Nice brake levers.

Just pimping my fixed-gear folding Brompton. These usually look like crap but with a few upgrades (phil wood keirin hub, velocity rims, Titanium frame goodies etcetera you can actually find a pretty cute bike hiding there in the rough. Oh and you can take it away with you when you travel when you 'furl it all up small. Weight phoning in at just 8.8 kg (19 1/2 ilbs).
Anyway—some 'money' shots for you...

no track dropouts so sometimes the wheel slides forwards w/out the tensioner

aekeroo 05-16-08 06:02 AM

that thing is awesome...

maddyfish 05-16-08 06:13 AM

I like the folder. I travel alot, I've got to get one.

You have to have a tensioner as the chain goes slack when you fold it and it would fall off. However - it's totally taught when unfolded and works as expected meaning leg-braking and even skids are possible. If I'd been able to leave it off I would but it wasn't an option. The only way not to have a tensioner would be if the rear triangle pivoted around the same axis as the BB. Which it doesn't.

Thanks for the positive comments - folders often get a bad rap! ;)

slightly updated and riding so nicely into springtime.

some new junk --> some orange Vredestein's after the Panaracer's started to crack, an NOS NJS Dura-ace seatpost (of all things) that I have been forcing myself not to buy for about 6 months, my old Flite again, some chopped down Profile bullhorns and cable-holding cellophane tape (soon to be bartaped in black), and a Nitto Crystal Fellow stem in 26.0. Phew.

Stock Steamroller. Boring, but I like it. I figured I'd get a pre-built one then replace what I didn't like, and so far, there's not really anything I don't like. Except I think the frame's too small for me. It's a 53cm and I'm 5'10. I had never had a bike with anything even close to road geometry so it was totally new. (The seat in the pic is too low for me. Adjusted it for a friend.. and wow, it's really pointing up) Oh well!

eogie 05-17-08 10:38 AM

Safety aside, bikes looks a lot smoother without reflectors in the spokes.
