i'm debating between a mavic aksium front wheel and a thomson seatpost. the gumwall tires are a must but i can't find any and don't want to skid through them.

why do you want the aksium? thats a heavy wheel. is it for the machined brake surface? I put a ksyrium up front for that reason (bought on ebay for cheap) and i'm very happy. But next time I may (for my other bike) get a Titan front wheel from Performance for less than $100... Titans have bladed spokes and are bulletproof w/good reviews on strength+lightness. Look them up.

titans are rumoured to be rebranded neuvations; john neugent is a great guy to deal with directly and he'll sell you a single wheel if you ask.
