Just finished my build yesterday and haven't gotten off this thing since. On the freewheel side for the moment just to mess around and get all the little adjustments dialed in. Lovin it though.
Specialized Langster S-works frame powdercoated white Carbon fork and seat stem Weinnmann deep v's 43x17 ratio on a FSA Newton crankset Wellgo pedals and power straps Surly cogs, Continental tires, Ritchey carbon bars. Here's a few pics I just snapped: http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...3/IMG_6645.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...3/IMG_6651.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...3/IMG_6648.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...3/IMG_6654.jpg |

Very cool EdgeKid3...gotta nit pick though :D Why not white grips? Yeah they'll get grunged up after a spell but ALL black and white would have been the sweetest candy. I'm uploading pics of my Langster in a few...feel free to nit pick the hell out of it :thumb: It's all good...
Did you buy that S works all by it's lonesome or did you tear down a complete bike? |

Did you buy that S works all by it's lonesome or did you tear down a complete bike? I bought the frame with the fork and the stems alone, from a guy who had previously raced the bike. I really like it though it's super light and strong. Ohh and the white grips would be a little much and get waaay dirty. Whatever tho I figure I can do any color grip and it'd look solid. Can't wait to see yours. Thanks guys. . . |
Here is my recently reincarnated Mark V Pro. I built this up a while ago with mostly leftovers, rode it around for a bit, but didnt like the paint/logos, so it got powdercoated flat black. I have a Cetma rack for it but not sure if its going back on, its a little heavy, and I didnt use it much.

Nice!!!
Two questions: * How do you like using that type of brake lever on those bars? Thinking about getting some but wonder if the feel of reverse levers might not be enjoyable. * What is that knob at the end of the other side? Bell? |

http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k7...e/suginoMG.gif just a few more pieces and im done. that s-works above is like the way more awesome older brother to my build. |
FWIW, you guys can call them "compact geometries" not "gross sloped top tube non-njs fake tarck bikes"...
and these people called "Italians" built finer steeds than this NJS "stuff" years prior. They used this really durable tubing called "Columbus" that didn't break from just looking at it funny. They did so because people often rode their track bikes on the street as well. Before that, these crazy British frame-builders built path racers, or track bikes that were built to be ridden on the street and raced with one simple flip of a wheel. They also used Reynolds tubing... Very durable. Most of the NJS frame builders look down on this whole "fixie" thing. The frames weren't made for daily abuse on the streets. Most tubesets used were light and made specifically for tracks, not potholes. Now I know some racers train on the streets of Japan, but the pavement there is superior to most of ours and they ride with front and rear brakes. [end rant] |

[end rant] 2. most Japanese track pros have a second training bike built identical to their main race bike but with heavier tubing and brakes I agree with you completely but lets not bring the public focus on Brit frames (Do we Really need another instance like the Japanese track gear?) |

I had a concept, then realized it was a bad idea and have been riding a Surly for a year now.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3110/...18cc688aa8.jpg My post was to bring to light that kids always bash **** that's not NJS for some dumb reason. Compact geometry is fine for what people are using their bikes for. Calling it "backwards sloping top tube" is annoying. |
im pretty sure that comment was in jest, as the author was describing his own bike
|
my mistake...
DOH! |
not quite done, but here are the before/after shots of cleaning it up and painting.
