it's awesome how the bullfrog looks like a natural extension of the frame

That bike makes me want to build up a Leader

Carradice Bagman QR support with Carradice Barley bag, Nitto RB018 with Paul E-Lever. Worked quite well.

Fashion over function most likely. It gets the job done and has the look the owner is going for.

ph. 06-22-08 04:18 PM

fashion always before function.
if you dont look good doing it, whats the point.

Why are people always talking s**t about these frames? In my experience, if you do a little research on them they're actually fairly well built. Not to mention it makes a pretty ride. Is there something about them that I'm missing?

I don't think they are very well-built at all, what research have you done?

I assume you're talking about the welds?
Maybe I just look at that as a deep, solid weld that will hold. And it's not smoothed or cleaned up probably to reduce labor and time costs to supply the public with their frames for a lower price than the competition.

imthewalrus 06-22-08 05:12 PM

Those welds may not be pretty, but they look well done to me. I've seen plenty of piss poor welding in my time and plenty of good welding. I know what holds up under high stress and what doesn't. Have you ever had a Leader frame break on you?

My thoughts exactly. Thanx for backing me up Guys. I really like the frames but all the people and bike shops I've asked about them had nothing but bad things to say. I ended up buying a Pake frame instead and while I'm not regretting it, I do wish I had listened to myself rather than someone else. My next project is definitely gonna be a Leader frame.

jet sanchEz 06-22-08 06:14 PM

Sorry the photos turned up so big, I should have hosted them myself.

I guess I have a different sense of what I want in a frame and ugly welds is not
something I would want to pay for, regardless of how low the price is.

As well, that mega-thick downtube looks like it would be fine at the track but on the
street I would imagine that it is uncomfortable as hell.

vainglorious 06-22-08 06:31 PM

lugged frames all the way!!!

cc700 06-22-08 07:15 PM

my kilo doesn't have the nicest welds in the world, but i can count the times i've noticed the aesthetics of them while riding on zero hands.

if you care how pretty your welds are you should just get a spinergy wheel and stop hatin'.

jet sanchEz 06-22-08 07:56 PM

Not hatin' is why this forum is so boring lately. Here is mine, bring on the hate.
