is that headset really on upside down? i didn't even know that was possible.

First Mock-Up: fertiliTi

It's going to ride very small for a 60 C-C S.T./58 TT, I really wish I could find some Ti bullhorns...

The Copper/root-beer Kestrel EMS/Ti fork totally matches the Honey-Brown Brooks!!

Don't go Tarck-Hating on the MTB pedals, they're 4-Ti and they're FLY!!

Tensile $100 freewheel...ouch! Missing a brake, (Yes, it will have a Zero G or a Campy Record Ti schtopper.) And I seem to have no real choice but to spring for a King Ti 1" Grip-nut headset. Anything less would be unworthy!

I still don't think it's a full-Ti GT. . .Prove me wrong or right.

Suttree 09-13-08 12:04 AM

wow--
well on the way to being FUN

tepr 09-13-08 12:33 AM

jesus that saddle looks sketchy

vee_dub 09-13-08 12:54 AM

OMG?? Why those saddle and that position..also SPERM DEEP V???
If I have the money for that sexy GT look-a-like TI frame...I would actually drop some money on some sexy TI parts:

http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j5...o/IMG_4640.jpg

I thinks this two bike is from here and it is my dream :S I wish I have the cash to do it.

elmoloveftl 09-13-08 01:20 AM

Everything but the wheelset is at least part Ti...Granted, the all-Ti bike is sexy, but I wouldn't put a metal saddle up my sensitive crack!! The Stem is litespeed, the flatbar is Titec, The Rotor System has a Ti spindle, Seatpost is Mosso Ti, Brooks Has Ti rails, The Kestrel fork has a 1" Ti steerer. Sexy? Well, I like Anime, and Tex Avery. . .So the fertiliTi is WAY sexy to me! It really does seem short though. I have long stems on most of my other bikes, but that's because the frames are only 52-55. It seems REALLY short. But maybe that'll just make for a comfy upright Ti-sprung carbon-dampened ride.

I was going to do Ti spokes on the wheels, but the cost was not worth the quality issues (DT revolution are just better than Ti.)

The one drawback to an elegant, sexy bike is that it will tend to look like other elegant, sexy bikes. My bike-builds are never mistaken for anybody else's ideas.

If anybody's got Ti bullhorns, let me know.

The seatpost was Half-backwards, not assembled properly (It's 2 chunks of Aluminum inside a Ti Barrel), and I had to push the saddle back to the point of pushing the leather out a bit...Just mocking up, because I finally have almost all of the parts. I'm going to do the Chainwheel Orange, and the Stem is polished...Doesn't match.

The chainwheel is a 54t TT unit, so my Schproketts are 18 free and 17 Fixed. I have limited space to move around in the Dropouts, because this thing doesn't clear a 23mm tire when pushed forward. I think it was built with a 19-21 tubie in mind. I think I can get it so I've got the 1/4" to use the 17 and 18...This one will see some track miles.

A bit better?
http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/d...l/IMG_2841.jpg

I always ride my saddles with the nose down a bit. Especially Brooks, because it evens out when it sags. Viva my prostate!!

Time and money. . .

I can't find a proper brake, so as soon as the Ti steerer is threaded, and I pull the MasterCard trigger on the KingTi headset, I'll take it to Piccolo Velodrome. Once I have a brake it'll live on the freewheel and see many hundreds of 2-fer Monday and 2Taco-Tuesday miles around Ft Lauderdale!! (Also perhaps an occasional 3am Friday last-call run from Plantation to the beach!!)

I have Orange Lizard Skinz grips...Lame, but they match.

Anybody else ever ridden Rotors? I'm excited and scared, especially if riding fixed.

Unworthy? Like the sperm covered Deep V's?

thereedreeder 09-13-08 10:21 AM

man, some ceramic open pro's would make that bike look a million times better.

John1995trekfan 09-13-08 11:23 AM

single speed or else....

Im new to the ss / fixed gear thing what is the difference? what is easier to convert from a 1995 trek 970?

Sixty Fiver 09-13-08 11:37 AM

John, With vertical dropouts you cannot run a fixed drive unless you use an eccentric hub while an ss could use a tensioner.

Horizontal drops are what you want for either type of conversion to be ideal.

+1000

Some drops would be nice as well.

Gyeswho 09-13-08 01:45 PM

+$2,000. Dean bikes can do a frameset for around $2200 with wound-up fork
