Chimbly -- please post pix after you get the frame back from Spectrum. I have an '82 3Rensho Super Record Export sitting next to my desk at work that I've been trying to decide if I want to powdercoat or not. I agree about Yellowjersey... the prices are criminal. Did you talk to Spectrum about re-creating the decals as-is?

Recreating ends up costing more than the originals because of the time involved.
ALSO- important tip here sashae... when we called YJ they said they only had a few sets of decals left (and were unwilling to discount them at all, even for a paint shop). if you're thinking you'll need 'em, you might want to act now.
ALSO- the person that sold me this frame didn't know all that much about it. I've checked the serial # to make sure it's a rensho, but I'm wondering if there's any way to figure out the year based on the serial #?

The only way I've been able to get the year is to ask Andrew directly, and he's not even sure 100% My serial is A27-545 if that helps... which it probably doesn't

Be careful of that Gan Well frame...It's got a sloping top tube and the rear is spaced at 110mm. Just a heads up.

Frame is an EAI Bare Knuckle. I absolutely love it. As soon as I get my drops I'm going to hit up Alpenrose. Big thanks to Dean at Bike-Central in Portland.

And the decals will be from the unfriendly folks of yellow jersey, who will take me to the cleaners for $80 for a set of transfers, and then charge an additional $40 for the sticker sheet that has those stripey and elephanty stickers for the downtube.
sidenote 1: all small frames look slack. i wish i was taller.
sidenote 2: this is quite possibly the most kickin' ride i've ever been on. it's so hot. so fast.
sidenote 3: the frame is 49x50 and i love it. i think i really prefer to ride square frames. they fit so well.

Ok, photos are wanted... Here's my new build, day 1:
It's a Bridgestone RB-1 with trackends and a new paint/decal job. Onto it is bolted the new wheelset I've been working on all week (Mavic T520 ceramic rims!). The front brake's gone and there's more work to be done here, some more that I've done tonight since I took the photo, but the updates will have to wait until I've downloaded the new photos.
Finally a bike I can get all 6'2" onto and haul. Thoughts?

Anyhoo, built it up to rideable last night and have some new pics of where it's at now. There's still the addition of a Selle Turbo, top tube protector, and maybe some NJS white grips to match the saddle enroute.

Yeah, the red chains are all BMX... 1/8" so i'm good to go. And I was going to add red spoke nipples but chickened on the Alum and went with brass at the last second.
