i already have the nitto bars and stem, superbe pro pedals and crankset. if i run across the old school superbe pros that are fluted, then i want to out them on there. not sure about the saddle yet, looking to find an older aero d/a post, and the wheelset will be the yet to be purchased suntour superbe pros, 32h 3x to some secret araya rims. if i can find the match to my 36 hole campy njs rear, then i'll set it up like that.
so still working on some parts, but i want it to be perfect before i put it together. the frame is off of e-framebank, with the hatta swan headset and hatta bottom bracket. it seems that it was built, but other than a scratch on the inside of the left hand seat stay, cherry. |

Here's the new bike. I went against some people's advise and went ahead with a trade. I love this bike now, it rides great and unlike my old aluminum road bike, not as bumpy as I thought it'd be. Very smooth and very responsive. This will be the track machine till I get the custom. I'd like to get some hightech wheels like the canecreek set but that's much later on.
NOS 2004 Bianchi Pista Concept with the stock carbon fork black IRO wheelset DA cranks, but I'm gonna put the sugino 75s on there I'm waiting on a set of the Deda pista bars and will eventually get some carbon seatpost on there. I think the plan is to turn this into a stealth bike with all bike components, but that'll be a while and not a priority. |
wangster - are you gonna get the black suginos?
|
I want to, but can't afford to for a while unless someone wants to trade, which seems unlikely...that's all moot for now, important thing is that I have a 'beater' I'm gonna tape the frame up today or tomorrow to make it more beater-like.
|
you should go for it if you can afford it (eventually), they're really nice looking... I hate on bianchi pistas with the rest of 'em (just because i'm tired of seeing the all stock ones around), but I dig the concepts. Can't see the drop outs to closely on the photo, but can you get away with dropping a link in your chain and scooting the back wheel in more?
|
Yeah I can't stand the regular pista either but I've always liked the concept and the matte black just looks great and bling looking in a non-bling way. I can definately take out a couple of links or go with a bigger chainring. I have about 2.5cm of clearance and it'd look great with a very tight clearance.

those gum colored tires are awesome. didnt know anyone still made them.

yellow rubinos... not even the pros... worn out... gonna get new gatorskins... starting the black theme with tires.
|
Its tough to follow up that hot a bike, but here's my converted Puch:
http://static.flickr.com/36/101879364_79c9c0317a.jpg Bike originally purchased from some bike shop in Cambridge, MA close to MIT. Bottom bracket rebuilt and crank set replaced by Via in Philly. Converted to fixie to a former Via guy. |

rafi, that nagasawa is a work of art. congrats!
|
My camera's gone into hiding, apparently, but I've put mary bars on the wacky holland, and it's a mighty fun ride now.
Imagine it! Taste the rainbow! |
booby, great name, bike is hot, puch are great. I like that conversion, the only reason I don't build up a conversion is because I don't like the geometries. That bike is looking nice, very clean looking.
|
heya wangster, how are you going to tape up your frame, I'm interested in how you're going to do it.
surely you're not just going to put elec. tape right on the frame when its brand new... are you? |
I am, but I'll probably put something under it so it's not directly touching the frame so the tape won't f**k up the paint as much when I peel it off later.
|
yea, i'm trying to think of what to put underneath as I want to elec tape to only be a temprary thing.
|
Maybe black Velox insted of elec. tape? Or old inner tube?

Well, I set out on Friday night to do a detailed cleaning of my 21 Speed GT Timberline Mountain bike which I have been using as a commuter for the past year. I was fresh off the disappointment of a craigslist purchase of a Sekai Singlespeed falling through. Anyway, the commuter was really gunked up from winter neglect. Caked on mud, gummed up derailer, rusted chain. I was ashamed.
I went to town on this bike. What began as a cleaning progressed into disassembly. Off came all of the ugly GT/Timberline/Flame decals. Ripped off the derailers, cables, cassette... Then it hit me - I would build myself an urban utility bicycle. All that stuff that came off? It wasn't going back on. I've got myself a SS. It's nowhere near as sexy as the bikes I seen thrown about around here, but I'm exited about it nonetheless. Yes, it has full covereage fenders front and back. It has a rear rack. It has vertical dropouts and a tensioner. It's a mountain bike frame and has upright bars. It still has the tripple chainrings up front. On the plus side, It's got a new set up brakes front and rear, it'll stay clean. It'll carry the groceries. And it's a blast to ride (for the 2 miles I've ridden thus far). http://static.flickr.com/34/101895565_0d19425251.jpg http://static.flickr.com/37/101894428_e68eeb95d3.jpg All Photos Future Upgrades: 1. Remove Triple Chainring 2. Maybe an ENO hub rear wheel to go Fix/Free and ditch the tensioner. |
