it's a quill stem. you don't need to stinkin' spacers to determine fit.
you're just being plain lazy that's all :D

This frame is now in my possession. I tried to take some of my own pictures, but me and my camera could not do it justice. This is a rehosted picture sashae took before selling me the frame.

I am in love, thanks sashae.

onetwentyeight 02-18-06 05:34 PM

ohhh nice. LOVE the paintjob. sliiiick. can't wait to see it built up.

sashae 02-18-06 05:41 PM

I'm really stoked for you... it's going to be a great build when it's done... and yes, I'll find you those hubs ;) The rest of the pictures of that frame are here, for those interested. Details of the lugs, ends, etc.

This is just something I found in the garbage a few months ago. I converted it and it cuts through the muck and the snow as well as any free bike could. It ain't no track Miyata, but it did come with a Mavic headset and BB as well as an XT rear derailleur. The wheels were both worthless so I ended up just taking the Surly/DT/Open Pros off my Steamroller while I wait for my new wheels. Chainline is silently straight thanks to mismatched JIS cranks on an ISO spindle and the ring mounted on the inside of the spider. (Sometimes you just get lucky.)
My favourite part of this bike is the stem. While it looks like I'd be getting nosebleeds riding so high up, the position really works well in the winter. I'm not racing anywhere, I'm just trying to keep my face from falling off.
I'd like to introduce you all to Francesca. I've got more pics up in this thread.

Edit: I've been riding this thing for so long I forget the out-of-place bits. The lock holder and amputated bottle holder were the previous owners. The bolts have rusted solid and rounded out so I'll live with them until I hacksaw them off and it's not terribly pressing. Also, I haven't run a brake cable yet but at 42x16, it isn't a real concern either.

How in the hell are all these Pelotons showing up lately? Did they have a fire sale at the build shop in Japan I missed out on?

DoshKel 02-18-06 11:39 PM

The fork design on that Peoloton is absolutely fantastic. I'm not familar with it, so are those engravings common, or is that a custom fork? Nonetheless... beautiful bike and great paint job. I love it. Speaking of Pelotons though, I found this some time ago and fell in love:

Now would it be wrong to throw a Nitto stem & bars on such a machine? Juvi, tell me true.

I didn't know where to post this since the ebay/cl thread is history. I just have to rant and don't want to start a thread. Someone just emailed me about my frame that I was selling. It's gone now, but this ****** was annoying and tried to haggle with me about it should be worth so much, why is it better, do I know how much keirin frames go for on ebay? all that crap and now his latest email was "Would you consider 250? because I have to get it stripped and powder coated." I wish he said that to my face just so I can slap him!

This is what he wanted to strip and powder coat.

It depends, Merckx rode for Shimano for some time. If you built it Japanese, it would be fine. But if you build it Italian, no fly.

God, I'd freakin' hi-ball an offer to you on your frame just to buy it!!!

Sorry Kyle, it's going all C-Record. I'm waiting for my clinchers to arrive and I'll be set.

Maybe if someone would buy my tubular set on eBay (wink wink) I'd be okay...
