True, true! Now go out into the world and preach the word. Liberate the hunched over heathens! Risers save! For once your bicycle is comfortable the fun begins!

Schwinn Paramount fixed conversion

Here are some pics of my garage sale find, a 1973 Schwinn Paramount, after the fixie conversion. I found the bike with all the original components except no wheels, and the frame is a little rough cosmetically but fortunately undented. The wheelsets are from IRO and the cogs are Surly. I replaced the original Cinelli stem and handlebars with Nitto ones. I kept on the original Campy headset and sidepull front brake but added a new cross-lever style brake lever. I left on the original seatpost and saddle. The cranks and pedals and bottom bracket are also the originals. I'm holding onto the remaining original components to maybe restore the bike one day in the very distant future.

So here's mine... something of a hodge-podge of parts and pieces, although it's getting more consistent as time goes on. It's a 1986 or 87 Bianchi Strada LX conversion with Shimano 600 cranks, pedals, and front brake, an IRO low flange hubbed/Mavic MA3 rimmed rear wheel and Alex RP15 front wheel, a Zoom stem, Velo saddle, and a Promax brake lever. The bars are pretty generic handlebars. It's running a 42 tooth BioPace chainring in the front and a 16 tooth IRO cog in the back.

My anchor looks almost exaclt like that one, except the seat tube decal is larger on mine.
