Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? "Ghostriding the whip" is this Bay Area movement that thugs do when they get out of there vehicle while there vehicle is moving, and they walk/run/dance/get hiffey right next to there vehicle while its rolling along.

Sort of. I just re-built the Basso as a singlespeed that I pretty much dislike. When I can swing a new chainring and another set of eggbeaters, it will be my rat bike again. I still love AL and carbon, but the Erba has established a soft spot in my heart for steel....and crazy-tight track frames.

ha ha, seen it done here, too. pretty funny.

and here i thought ghostriding was just riding one bike while guiding another along.

Close. That would be considered riding your bike/whip/scraper, while ghostriding another bike of yours, or someone elses bike you stole.

I always thought ghostriding was to dismount off the bike while riding and let the bike roll on. Like when you were a kid. I had no idea about the dancing along the side of it.

Heh. Funny stuff. I want to see this in action.
