Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? marked001........nice ride.... Tell me, how did you fix the rear spinergy hub? I have a set of old spinergies with a Campy 8-spd freehub body. I'l like to somehow convert it to take a track cog if possible at all.

thanks

my original intent was to use a Surly fixxer...but after not reading the ebay auction thoroughly..I received them and realized it wasnt a shimano cassette...so I had to be ghetto about it and thread a track cog on with some spacers and ample amount of blue loctite...frowned upon by alot of people...but I've ridden a couple different sets of wheels like this and haven had a problem... (yet)...so...

Bikes: DeBernardi track, Bianchi homemade fixed, '93 Trek 2300 road

de bernardi

My new De Bernardi track bike. Sugino cranks (stiff!), Campy front hub, Nitto bars... (other parts are cheapo...) Still looking for an upgrade to the Suzue rear wheel.

I'm planning on taping the bars, or at least putting on some rubber grips--it's getting cold!

Anybody want to buy my old road fixed conversion (frame, fork, HS, BB, cranks, seatpost)?

Bikes: A lot: Raliegh road bike, 3 fixed gears, 2 single speeds, 3 Cannondales, a couple of Schwinns

MINE
First is Candy-O, a 56cm old C-dale frame, that I've fixed. I run a 53/17(84.9). The drops are vertical, so there isn't much room for play in the chain, and this bike you are stuck in one speed, there's no flipping the hub here.
Seconed is an old steel Schwinn, that is just a sweet ride, not fast but just nice. I did a century on her last winter.

Bianchi Pista

I'm not sure if I like the color, after putting this all together... Maybe it just needs a couple of simple racing stripes or something... Oh well, I can always repaint it.

Bikes: Bianchi Pista, Miyata track, Schwinn Le Tour fixie

Is that the Pista? I think it looks great. I would get a different stem though (90 degree stems bug me)..

Thanks Jason......yeah, that's the pista frame I've been working on. I agree with you on the stem. Problem is, I bought that Profile stoker bar and darn thing is 26mm bar end to bar end. There's no buldging in the middle. I was unable to use any of my nicer traditional road stems because the bar simply would not make it thru the stem around the sharp bends. The only thing I had on hand was that Salsa stem w/open faceplate.

George, how many fixed bikes do you have.
I'm counting Cinelli, Steamroller, Pista, Scorcher.

I need a few more...

I finally got a camera.

I ride this bike alot. This is just one of the configurations. I swap bars, wheels, seats etc.

This bike is very comfy and set up for 50+ mile rides!!

Frame: Late 70's early 80's, 60cm
Wheels: Rear-Suzue promax/Alex DR13, Front- old Shimano 105/ Matrix Iso II, DT spokes 14ga
Tires: Rear Miche pro, Front Vittoria corsa CX TT
Bar: 46cm Sakae (I busted my scapula and this helps on long rides)
Stem: Tioga road
Brake hoods: Busted 105's
Headset: Sealed Shimano 105
Seat: What was on the bike, Selle Italia w/ bianchi stamp (only thing original)
Seat post: campy nuovo?
Crank arms: They are diffrent, one is Suntour XC pro and I don't know what the other is
Gearing: 48x16
BB: Dura Ace, adjusting cups on both sides for chain line
Chain: Inox S.S. (New master link to replace lost one, originals are bad!!!)
Cog/ lockring: Dura Ace
Pedals: Speed[play s.s.

Well, here's the beast I referred to in a recent post. Heck of a lot of fun.

auk..

Hey, I like that inverted moustache bar.... It's surprising how well that setup works. I just wish that those bars were narrower.

Thanks, got the idea from the pic of your Pista. Pretty comfy. Know what you mean about the width. At the ends these measure about 53cm center to center. Since these are steel, I'll probably stick an ratchet extension inside the ends and give them a little tweak. Or as the Nascar boys are fond of saying, "Aw, he narrowed it up that corner"

I'm going to feel like I'm riding a midget bar when I go back to my 46cm 3T's on the road bike.

Auk, is that a quick release rear you have there? How's that working for you?

BTW, I dig those tires.. do they come in anything but lime green?
