The short version appropriate for this forum? I've been riding at the velodrome (Sloten) for a few years and now want to do it on the street. Messenger style. I wanna get a frame and build something up to commute and get around town on. I've been learning a lot from this forum. Pic's and advice here are great but a good LBS would help too.

Yes, yes I am. Nowerdays only on saturdays but you're more than welcome to step in anytime. We have quite a bit of track stuff lying about, and a some of us ride SS and track.
