Wow...I love the "blinky on the hub" idea...i just tried it with my KNOG...it works really well. Probably not as visible as under the seat, but it's a cool location.

IKEA is quite similar, since the furniture sucks, but boy do I look like a cool college student. Anyway, I digress.

Trader Joe's is not over-priced at all. First of all, it's only over-priced if no one shops there, which obviously isn't the case. Second, I worked as a regional grocery buyer for a national chain for six years and I can assure you that Trader Joe's kills just about everyone on price on the exact same product. Sometimes on the order of $3-$5 less than we could have possibly charged and expect to meet our margin goals. Add to this a generally pleasant work environment, high pay (well about industry average) and a generous benefits package, and TJ's looks like a well-run, responsible company, far from a Kroger or Albertson's.

Is there a thread on this forum that doesn't have one of your boring, uninformed "leftist" tirades?

trader joes wins because of their $3 wine. that's the same price as a 22 of beer!

Bravo! I now understand why it's only safe to post outdoor pics of bikes. I'm surprised the guy didn't get flamed for killing trees by using paper bags to protect his carpeting.

You only think the prices are cheaper because your attempts at yuppy emulation mean you are comparing trader joes food items to the over priced yuppie ones rather then the proper alternatives. Don't compare the fancy frozen veggies to the fancy ones at albertsons but rather the lableless cans at discount foods. Don't compare the tasty $5 wines to $20 dollar ones at your local wineseller but rather to thunderbird at the corner store.

Well of course I am, I thought that was implicit. I wasn't saying that you couldn't get a cheaper frozen pizza from Aldi, I was saying that the Trader Joe's frozen pizzas were made by Amy's and sold for $3 less than we could had afforded to sell them for.

ohheycheckmeout 09-24-07 10:05 AM

its a 53cm. Wheels are Velocity Aeros laced to Formula hubs. Cranks are now powercoated black. Next time ill be sure to post pics of the bike outside, but as a poor college student, thats how it goes. Thanks for all the postive comments about the bike.

How tall are you? I really like the set up with these bars. But I'm concerned about TT length. I take a TT between 52-53 usually but am doubting appropriate reach with those bars. Comparing to my race frame (with drops) I'm kinda in the middle between the steamroller 49 and 53. And with no possibilty to test ride one here....:(

btw, if you take pics outside, do it in front of the IKEA ;)

ohheycheckmeout 09-24-07 10:19 AM

Im 5'8" almost 5'9".... if that helps. Ill be sure to go to ikea, or at least in front of trader joes with an ikea catalog in hand.

RMW 09-24-07 10:25 AM

Just getting a ballpark idea. Fit needs to take into account torso and extremety measurements. Total length is not really useful for anything more than an estimate. As long as you're not really uncomfortably stretched out then I should be fine adjusting stem length.
Thanks!

I will give you the labor issue. They definitely are much better as far as labor goes. I don't by many pre-made items anyhow, so I look at vegetable prices. The Trader Joes I have been to don't have much of of a selection for that sort of thing. Better selection of cheeses and natural chips. Any way, my point was that it is ridiculous to applaud someone for going to another corporate grocery. However, I didn't think of the labor issue when I replied, and in fact I would say it is better for someone to go to Trader Joes than Albertsons for that reason.

If you want to applaud someone for going to a grocery applaud them for buying from their local grocer. My local grocer, doesn't have everything I need, but I do my best to go there for the things he does have. The nice thing about local grocers is that they are willing to go a bit out of their way to get something for you that they don't carry. At least mine does.

To bring it back on topic. It is like going to the LBS rather than an online store. Most of us will argue that LBS is the way to go, because we want to support our local community. We should feel the same way about our food.

....man, now I miss Trader Joe's. (we do have Kaldi though...)

We don't even have a Trader Joes where I live now. We have an Ellwood Thomson, which I believe is actually local. It is named after the intersection where it is located.

I work for the real enemy Whole Foods! Actually, I love my job and this company because they love me...

I was just about to be like "Nuh uh! We have one too!" and then I thought about it for a second. It is at the Ellwood Thomson intersection and you are from RIC.

I am dyslexic so bear with my posts....

You'd think that someone that bothered to put that at the bottom of EVERY post they make wouldn't have to deal with smug ****heads on the internet mocking them. But what the hell, right?
