I am sorry but Trader Joes sucks and so does IKEA. Trader Joes is well over priced, and is just another corporate grocery, no better than Albertsons, Smiths, or Kroger. The only thing that place does is make you feel like you have money, because you can afford to go to some yuppy grocery. IKEA is quite similar, since the furniture sucks, but boy do I look like a cool college student. Anyway, I digress.
yeah bikes.

^^^:cry::cry::cry:

whatever, it makes me happy. It's not like I was riding it on a track or anything to begin with!
That bike is beautiful...
...then came the coaster brake. I wanted to shed a tear. That thing deserves better, unless your dozen other FG's put it to shame. |
Those bikes are the same mass produced crap that everyone has. They should be test beds for anything you want to try.
If the coaster were on a real madison, or a colnago or razesa or somehing, it would be a different story. |
I don't see why a coaster brake kills the bike... I mean as TimArchy says, I picked it up for $350! So what if I want to throw a coaster brake on it for kicks. I still have my fixed wheel. If it's aesthetics you're worried about, I don't think it makes much of a difference. Besides, they're already ugly orange deep v's!
Dude, I love coaster brakes, but throw that thing on an old road bike. Who ever heard of converting a track bike to something else anyway?

Coaster braked singlespeeds are pretty fun if you get the Huffy cruiser association out of your head. |
Eh, whatever, I'm not gonna argue. It's fun, and guess what? I didn't super glue the wheel or pedals in, so when I want, I can make it a super #1 genuine totally authentic track bike again... that I will not ride on a track. In the meantime, it's my bike so as Cartman says, I do what I want!
Are those Hamilton pedals?
indeed they are
Wow, I'm surprised I could spot them, I guess it's the Animal thing on the plug thing. Sick bike too.
Just realized I never posted this here!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...DSC_0195-1.jpg It's a Miyata Two-Ten touring bike, converted to singlespeed. It was originally for my roomate during my internship in Boston, but I gave it to my girlfriend. :) It was really inexpensive to build and is surprisingly light. |
my new bike

my new bike--so much fun!
For some reason the fact that that gets gets ridden on the street brings me pleasure.
Probably rides like a dream, why not ride it everywhere?
really don't like the wheel set up, at least get a 2nd tri-spoke
paint that hed white!
or give it to me so I can ride it on the track!

Mixing very different wheel types is absolutely fugly in my opinion. Traditional spoked only match low-spoke composite wheels in the sense that they are round in shape. Unnatural wheel mixtures look as if little thought was put into the bicycle; the bike was thrown together with random ridiculously expensive parts but still turns out goofy lookin', defying the whole point of buying blingy parts. It's like putting chromed rims only on the front wheels on your car, with the standard issue factory wheels in the rear. Two tri-spokes however, look really slick. Not that I advocate using them for everyday use... |
