A one inch carbon fork and a threadless headset would rock, but nashbar has a fork for 80 bucks already, so if we can get a better price that would rock.

I don't know how Surly feels about group buys, but I'd be all over a Cross-Check group buy, as well. Drop that price tag! I want that bike.

goldenskeletons 01-02-08 01:46 PM

i think a carbon track frame or a high end wheelset is a great idea.

i'd get behind a nice aluminum track frame as well.

we'd have to settle for whatever geometry is available though. i'd prefer steeper geo, but i want a new frame for mass start track events, not street riding. i get the feeling i'm in the minority on this one.

ryanday 01-02-08 01:49 PM

No, I'm in the same boat. I have a frame that is perfect for street riding. If it's another "track" frame, I'd want steep steep steep.

petitioning mike at bikesdirect to start carrying a carbon track frame is probably the best bet. all the other carbon track frames on the market are prohibitively expensive right now, and mike was quoting carbon track frames for less than most NJS ones if i remember right.

So far the highest and most realistic interest areas are
1. Soma Rush or Delancey group buy.
2. Petition BD to do a high end track frame and/or wheelset.

Other suggestions seem unrealistic to me (e.g Zipp hubs) or way to petty to bother with (e.g. 1" fork and headset).
The Kilo TT Pro suggestion is kinda irrelevant since that'll probably happen anyway with or without this thread, but it might be possible to have some influence on the component spec.

Personally, I just want some decent lightweight wheels for less than the cost of having to build my own.

I vote #2 all day. every day.

To hell with the idea that this board is nothing but cheap losers. I see how much is overspent on NJS parts in a year.

Carbon track bike for less than cost---LET'S G-G-GET IIIIIT!!!

br995 01-02-08 02:56 PM

Let's do a tube group buy.

goldfish 01-02-08 02:58 PM

i'd be down for a frame. not sure if its been suggested yet, but maybe a SS mtb frame?

whatever, i'd probably be a go for a road or track frame, as long as its not a sloping TT

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm clueless about different SS mtb brands. Any specific suggestions?

bonechilling 01-02-08 03:13 PM

Didn't IRO used to make a SS MTB? The Mia or something, right? Maybe Tony could retool production of those.

No IRO? I know they are not the top of the line or anything, but since they have done it before, why not try again?

Plus, selfishly, I really want a Mark V pro on the cheap. I would be down for the Soma (Rush) too, but seriously, worst. logo. ever.

that would be awesome.

i'm not sure what other options would be, but i would love a cheap ss mtb (frame or as a whole)

xylophonecks 01-02-08 03:28 PM

well IRO is still in the middle of the current Rob Roy group buy, so i'd imagine that wouldn't happen for some time.

i'd totally be down for a good wheelset group buy

spencedonfonix 01-02-08 03:40 PM

i would be interested in a wheelset group buy or a ss mountain bike group buy.

I'm down for a CF frame or a Rush. The Delancey only came in one not-so-great green color (maybe we could get that changed) and I'm afraid of wheels getting stolen.

I'd be down for that or something similar.

Doctor_Eyepatch 01-02-08 05:06 PM

Kilo TT Pro +1
I need a new track bike.

redxj 01-02-08 06:20 PM

I would be interested in a carbon or even TI track frame group buy. Or the Kilo TT Pro. and some Cane Creek wheels

bward1028 01-02-08 06:22 PM

i would be far more interested in something that doesn't go through bikesdirect.

The more it's mentioned as an option, the more people will sign up.

delicious 01-02-08 06:32 PM

i'd be totally into a gb for quality sealed bearing track hubs.

snortCRANK 01-02-08 06:36 PM

hubs/wheels

bward1028 01-02-08 06:38 PM

someone needs to sign on as organizer.

mykrrrr 01-02-08 06:45 PM

I'd like a Soma Double Cross. My Pista is just fine.
