Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

OT: Post Your Cribs!!!

The recent posts about owning houses (or not) inspired this. This is NOT intended to be a stick in anyone's eye.

We have a thread for posting your bikes, and we have a thread for posting where you roll. We should have one for posting where you live. I'm 3/4 of the way through remodeling my basement in a gothic theme. Below are two photos that depict 1/2 of my basement. This winter's project is to create a stained-glass window, which should make the light look really cool from the southern-facing windows.

A picture from the backyard patio. There's a 450 sq ft deck above that's great for partying on and puking from.

Post your living quarters.

imagine an old run-down apartment right by the train tracks with wood floors, modern furniture, cat hair, and a view of a storage complex wall five feet from my front door, and you've got my place. not even worth taking pics of.

Picture two less-than-neat and less-than-rich people with too many hobbies and a fluffy white cat occupying a small (and drafty) rental house with not enough storage. It has a gas stove and a nice deck for parties though.

Our front yard is bigger than the house itself, nice big cypress in front with a hammock, ****ty singlepane windows that let out all the heat, awesome roommates, the best kitchen in the world, a nice deck in the back, a garden overgrown with oxalis (right now we have carrots, chard, peas and lettuce), a bunch of bikes, five neighborhood cats that fight my roommate's cat, realitively cheap rent, close to a market and a couple bars, good dumpsterdiving nearby, 1/2 mile to the ocean.

Bikes: A whole bunch o' bikes.

Would you believe this is the only photo I have of my house on the computer?

The wall has been painted to match the brick since then and the windows have been replaced. Also, that bike was stolen. It does show the awesome deck we built a couple years back; Its almost as big as the first floor of the house. The little boxed in area on the right of the deck is a tomato garden in the summer. I loves me some tomato salad.

That's 1/2 my basement; I was sitting on the pool table when taking those pics. But, what's "LARPing?"

Bikes: bfssfg iro--black.

my house has a termite problem i think.
it's probably over a hundred years old, chilling in my little college town.
there's some pillars (pretty much just rough hewn trees) in the basement and then some over those in the living room that hold the whole house up... but the bases of the pillars in the basement are kinda eaten away... i don't care. i'll be out of this place before it comes tumbling down.

we got that and a little bonus room upstairs between the roof and the second floor, that's pretty cool.
we also got a corner ****ter (toilet mounted at a forty five degree angle coming out of the corner), and a side-mounted mailbox (which i've never seen used anywhere else). other than that, same old same old... ****ty single-pane, drafty windows that i think are original to the house and doors that don't actually lock.

Sure, why not, it is a sunny day and my place looks okayish when it is bright. Nothing really cycling related except that I traded a bike for that couch:

I live in a 6x9 dorm room/walk in closet(at least that's what it feels like). I don't have any pictures, you don't really want to see it. I can't believe i keep my bike in there with me, it's even smaller then.

In June, I'm moving into this:
