Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

OT: singlespeed and fixed gear bicycles

Does anybody here ride them when they are not fluffing their leopardskin pillows, feeding carrots to their horses, or sticking it to the man?

Maybe this isn't the place to talk about it but I think they're pretty fun and useful.

Way off topic. Someone notify the mods.

To foo with this thread. Heck, foo should have a foo subsection for this one thread alone.

And in regards to this post, I was just thinking how this board is starting to suck about how every post is OT horses, homes, music, books, cars, motorcycles, sheepskin seat covers, what thong to wear to the prom. I mean, there are other forums to post in with plenty of people that would reply. I just miss getting on BFSSFG and actually learning something about FG's. Now I heardly get on here. Well, atleast it inspires my to ride more instead of sitting on the internet all day.

I can tell you why I DO like the format of this subforum: it's because I know most of the people - and I like most of the people. This just happens to be my favorite place on the 'net. So if there's a bunch of people you like to hand around with, wouldn't you want to discuss stuff with them? Sure, there are "other" forums, but I don't feel as comfortable as I do here.

I sometimes ride them but only in secret and in disguise.
