Good point, although does anyone know if Harris Cyclery deals with http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ as well? I know there are links between the two.

Sheldon's website is what got me into FG/SS and ultimately back into cycling altogether. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who can say that.

Wow. This sucks. That guy was single handedly responsible for my bikes not falling apart. Sheldon was the man and he was probably the biggest contributor of basic bike knowledge in recent history. Lets all put in a few miles for sheldon today. Memorial rides anyone?
|
Downer. He'll be missed. He maintained his online journal until yesterday.
|
Oh my god, such a huge loss to the cycling community; my sincere condolences to his family.
If I my make a suggestion, could someone from BF contact his family and find out if there is anything members here can do, such as future support and updates for his website? This is one way his great work can be continued... |
oh. my. god.
Everything I know I learned from Sheldon Brown. A lot of it, at least. RIP. |
My condolances to his family.

rip Sheldon may your legacy live on
|
My thoughts are with his family and friends. It would be impossible for me to count the time I visited his website. His articles have helped so much over the year I feel I should have paid a subscription.
|
RIP and thanks for everything.
|
yeah thats his real myspace. what a terrific guy he was.
|
Man, I can't believe this. Hopefully now he is able to get back on a bike, wherever he may be. You will be missed, Sheldon.
|
A true legend and all-around nice guy if there ever was one. Condolences to his family.
Godspeed, Captain Bike. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/org/images/irishtweed.jpeg |
RIP, I've learned so much from your site.
|
My condolences to his family, he seemed like a really good guy.
|
That's really unfortunate. I hope that Mr. Brown's work continues to be available, because it has been incredibly encouraging and inspirational to my own bicycle-related work in the past few years. No one can expect to live on forever, but a good piece of writing can last nearly that long.
|
Very sad. How many times have I been puzzled over a repair and thought "What would Sheldon do?". The cycling world has been fortunate to have enjoyed his overwhelming enthusiasm, his eagerness to educate, and his iconoclastic insistence on doing things your own way. All The Best to his family.

RIP Sheldon Brown, enough can't be said about his providence to the cycling community.

Sheldon was one of those people that could instantly humble everyone with his knowledge and passion for bicycles of all kinds. He'll be missed.
|
I have no words.
RIP, Mr. Brown. |
He got me off of an ill-fitting, poorly working 10-speed and onto bicycles that fit me well and worked. Plus, he contributed a bunch of good advice to this forum.
That dude loved to ride. |
You'll be missed, Mr. Brown.
|
rip

without sheldon i would live a much less bike oriented life.
I will ride for him tonight. maybe everyone can do the same. |
