This is sad news for sure. I am glad to have met him and spoken with him on a few different occasions. Truly an inspirational person.
|
Such a loss. I was always as impressed by his willingness to help as i was by the depth of experience and knowledge he posessed. It never took more than an email and a short wait to get terriffic first hand info and suggestions from Mr. Brown.
He will be truly missed. I'd love to see his articles in print, perhaps bound in a single volume. His wealth of knowledge is the most useful bike tool i have... |

I'd always get a little thrill if I logged onto BF and saw that Sheldon Brown was logged on too. I bet I'm not the only one.... I can't tell you how sad I am to realize that'll never happen again.
I hope wherever Sheldon is now, the roads are smooth and the breeze is at his back. |

That must be incredibly sad for his wife and the cycling community will miss his input.
I am thinking of doing a massive archive / dump of his site so that if somewhere down the road his site goes down his contributions could be re-hosted as they were very helpful to so many of us. |
The man led a better life than most of us could even hope to. He'll be missed.

wow! what a terrible loss! RIP and my condolences to his family.

The number of people here who are indebted to him is staggering, not only for the wealth of resources he provided, but also for the attitude and spirit with which he provided it. My heart goes out to his family.

Oh my... how very, very sad. Sheldon was a huge help and inspiration to me and so many other cyclists. He was a true class act and I will miss him.

Very, very sad news. Rest in peace Sheldon.

This is the worst.
I don't know what I would have done with my first conversion, an old Peugeot, had it not been for him. The guys at the bike co-op had convinced me to get rid of it but Sheldon's page convinced me that not only was it possible to convert/save, but that it was worth doing. It also makes me sad that nobody will ever be able to invoke the name of Sheldon Brown on bike forums again. It was so awesome when nobody knew the answer to a question and someone would say "I bet Sheldon would know" or something. Within a few hours he'd be here posting the answer. What a cool guy, he'll definitely be missed. |
Very sad day for sure.
RIP Sheldon Brown. You will be deeply missed... |
A great loss for the whole of the cycling community.

Condolences to his family.
He will be missed. :( |
at least he lived an awesome life, and his memory will go down in the books. guess that's all we can hope for.
RIP |
He was in a class all to himself, a true inspiration not only for the most extensive source of online technical bicycling information but also for his spirit to continue helping others and propagating the sport/hobby despite his illness (multiple sclerosis.)
We lost a legend today... |
RIP, Sheldon. You will be missed!

****ing A... my last contact with him involved arguing the specifics of brakeless track bikes on the street over in the Bike Mechanic forum. That's crazy how he just died. Shows how quick life passes and how fragile it really is.
RIP and respect. |
