RIP Sheldon Brown..
From the IBOB mailing list...
"Sheldon's wife Harriet sent out mail this morning saying that Sheldon Brown died of a massive heart attack last night." RIP Captain Bike. You'll be missed. edit: official notice on the harris cyclery site. http://sheldonbrown.com/images/scb_eagle.jpeg (thread made into sticky - pitboss, 02/04/08) |
Wow... RIP
That's too bad. He seemed like a really selfless and benevolent guy.
Wow. I remember reading that he had health problems lately. God Bless.
if this is some kind of joke thread the cycle gods will punish you
oh my god! this is horrible news (if it's true) RIP sheldon, you were one of the only people I trusted for information, and one of the funniest people I ever read. |
That suxs. Best wishes to his family.
Wow.........
Bad news indeed. Cycling is a lot less rich with the loss of a guy like Sheldon. If anyone hears about any memorial charities for remembrance donations, please post it.
That must be incredibly sad for his wife and the cycling community will miss his input.
I am thinking of doing a massive archive / dump of his site so that if somewhere down the road his site goes down his contributions could be re-hosted as they were very helpful to so many of us. |

wow- what a loss. I think that Sheldon did more for the fixed/ss bike world than anyone else could pull off. A true loss, a nice guy.
Man, that's terrible news. He'll be missed.

Good point, although does anyone know if Harris Cyclery deals with http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ as well? I know there are links between the two.

Sheldon's website is what got me into FG/SS and ultimately back into cycling altogether. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who can say that.

Wow. This sucks. That guy was single handedly responsible for my bikes not falling apart. Sheldon was the man and he was probably the biggest contributor of basic bike knowledge in recent history. Lets all put in a few miles for sheldon today. Memorial rides anyone?
Downer. He'll be missed. He maintained his online journal until yesterday.
Oh my god, such a huge loss to the cycling community; my sincere condolences to his family.
If I my make a suggestion, could someone from BF contact his family and find out if there is anything members here can do, such as future support and updates for his website? This is one way his great work can be continued... |
oh. my. god.
Everything I know I learned from Sheldon Brown. A lot of it, at least. RIP. |
