The number of people here who are indebted to him is staggering, not only for the wealth of resources he provided, but also for the attitude and spirit with which he provided it. My heart goes out to his family.

Oh my... how very, very sad. Sheldon was a huge help and inspiration to me and so many other cyclists. He was a true class act and I will miss him.
|
Rip :-(
|
Very, very sad news. Rest in peace Sheldon.
|
This is the worst.
I don't know what I would have done with my first conversion, an old Peugeot, had it not been for him. The guys at the bike co-op had convinced me to get rid of it but Sheldon's page convinced me that not only was it possible to convert/save, but that it was worth doing. It also makes me sad that nobody will ever be able to invoke the name of Sheldon Brown on bike forums again. It was so awesome when nobody knew the answer to a question and someone would say "I bet Sheldon would know" or something. Within a few hours he'd be here posting the answer. What a cool guy, he'll definitely be missed. |
Very sad day for sure.
RIP Sheldon Brown. You will be deeply missed... |
A great loss for the whole of the cycling community.

rest in peace, sheldon brown. rest in peace.
|
Condolences to his family.
He will be missed. :( |
at least he lived an awesome life, and his memory will go down in the books. guess that's all we can hope for.
RIP |
He was in a class all to himself, a true inspiration not only for the most extensive source of online technical bicycling information but also for his spirit to continue helping others and propagating the sport/hobby despite his illness (multiple sclerosis.)
We lost a legend today... |
RIP, Sheldon. You will be missed!
|
****ing A... my last contact with him involved arguing the specifics of brakeless track bikes on the street over in the Bike Mechanic forum. That's crazy how he just died. Shows how quick life passes and how fragile it really is.
RIP and respect. |
Rest in peace, Sheldon Brown.
|
So, so sad.
RIP, Sheldon. You did good. |
Very sad indeed.
Through correspondence with him, I was put on fixed gear path. A great biking advocate has been lost. - RIP - |

|
Wow. I only know of the man through my many visits to his site, which I still go to to find answers and learn.
Rest in peace Mr. Brown. |
Wow I was just emailing with him a few weeks ago. His legacy will live on. This is quite tragic.

I signed on just to pay my respects.
Can someone reprint the "Sheldon Is My Co-Pilot" stickers? |
I have no doubt Sheldon is now in cycling nirvana.
|
I am very sad to loose a great bicycle advocate. God bless his family and friends.
|
*******..... is the first thing I said. This can't be true. I refuse to accept this. We had a nice e-mail conversation going on a couple weeks back..... there was NOTHING that would make me thing it's going to end soon.
For now... I can't accept. I fscking can't accept this. There's so much stuff I wanted to discuss with him. |
Thoughts go out to his family from far away. We dedicated bicyclists are an international crowd and the net made Sheldon Brown an authority all over the world. He will be greatly missed by us all.

Is there a way to send our condolences to his family? They deserve to know how much he was loved.
