Ehhh... A day or two ago I saw someone post a picture of an old fuji and he got a few pages of legit responses and advice on how to get his bike running. He didn't even get made fun of or anything like that. It gave me hope. Then I saw "the hour" record thread and it was going pretty well. Stuff like that is enough to keep me coming back for awhile. It may be sick but I don't think its quite dead yet.

Sheldon...gone
Shants...very rarely
Msngr...even less
Juvi...less than that
QueerPunk...I can't come up with anything witty, but not there much either
Teigapoonsa...or however you spell it....misunderstood, but not there either
It is true that new people learn alot here, the old timers, not so much. I am embarrased to say that I started a white tires thread about 2 years ago, as well as a "why did you start riding a track bike thread".
Most new people do it.
This forum is like LSD. You can learn alot through the use of it, but eventually you need to graduate from it, otherwise you end up yelling at strangers for virtually no reason.
BTW, Albert Hoffman is the guy in my avatar. Seems sorta fitting. I'll be in C+V.

As one of the oldest old timers (currently posting), I'll say definitively that if this forum is dead, it was dead before I got here. We've been rehashing the same posts since 2003.
We had a brief glimplse of a pulse when the krypto/bic collabo dropped, however unintentional, and some memorable threads debating the merits of the ethical use for the word "***" with Mayonnaise.
Other than that, it's been risers, brooks saddles, powdercoating, skids, gearing, and knee problems.
I will admit that it has been a bit dry since dutret bailed, but someone else will come along and instigate for us. He was just the newest in a line of witty *******s stretching back to the forum's inception. There will be others.
In conclusion, if this is bad, then the forums was definitely never good.

Perhaps another round of riding while drunk posts will cheer everyone up.

Honest opinions please:
Is this forum dead because,
A) people on here get sick of the "n00b" asking the same ?s every time and then go on to flame the guy for keeping it bike related?
B) people on here are trying to pursue an online career of being a comedian or tough guy?
C) fixed gearss have been so drained now there is nothing more to talk about?
I personally go for B just because there are so many who have arguments over little things or just want to be funny with a snark remark taking a thread way off topic

I will NEVER outgrow LSD.
Anyway, the winter got a lot more people on these forums, but probably people that aren't riding for a few months. Makes sense that things go off topic and get kinda gay....a place like Winter Cycling is actually getting -better- in the winter. When it warms up and the roads dry out, more people will be riding and less people will be talking about riding. And those that do will probably have sdomething good to say. And if they don't well....then you can always go for a ride instead. **** this weather.

Great post. Where has [165] been? I can't get this new crap search engine to find him. He was always one of my favorite people on here.
