I am old

You know you are old when you have never heard of half of the bands making videos on VHI. Last night I tried to cure my insomnia watching tv, and flipping through the stations landed on VHI which had a video that was all footage of some dude on a fixie riding through the city, doing power slides, etc. I thought the song sucked, but the video was kinda neat. Anyone know what video I am talking about and/or what band this was?

though if you're in the range where you don't remember nada surf but do think you're too old to know the music on vh1 then i must be really old.

You're not old. I'm 26 and I still don't know half the bands making videos that appear on VH1. That said, I still think most of them suck and therefore don't care either.

Ahh yes, thats it.

26??---Enjoy your last 4 years of youth---life sucks when you hit 30. Its like hitting a brick wall or something. You instantly become "old." Knees start to hurt. College girls start looking like jailbait; all the single women your age are divorced or have kids or have things you don't want------not a pretty picture.

Well I was lame when I was young, so my lameness isn't a factor

I'm not worried about 30. If your life genuinely starts declining at 30, you're doing something wrong. ****, I'm just getting warmed up.

Damned straight, some cool things have gone since turning 40 as well. I will say it's quite satisfying to beat 20 -somethings in a sprint/race. Just lets me know the old man still has some legs. As well you 20+ years of traffic riding experience gives me an up.

+10

at 45 (next week) I'm healthier and happier than any time in my life. I'm happily married, I have a pair of great kids (who haven't been arrested yet, but they aren't quite teenagers...), I ride my bike every day (and only partly to save the planet: mostly because its FUN), I run farther and faster than when I was 25, and I can afford better booze.

the only true downside of middle age: the profoundly unfair combination gray hair AND zits.

Nada Surf reminds me of that one nerdy kid in junior high that got pushed around all the time. At some point, they're gonna snap out of this wimpy girly crappy music stage and make a metal album or shoot up a Wendy's.

Isn't Nada Surf the Weezer sound-alike band that had that one hit "Popular?" That sucked.

At 36, my knees haven't felt this good in years. I'm pushing a reasonable gear, I have enough disposable income to get almost anything I want [DINK FTW]. I can afford better booze. My hair is slowly going gray, but that started when I was 16, so I'm used to it. Mrs. Pinkrobe has joined me on my rides as well. It's going pretty good.

So true...I'll be 30 in July and am now stuck in the transition period. All the younger women end up thinking I'm old or out of it. All of the older women have kids or just shun me because I don't own a house and a BMW. I can't complain though because I was out of shape at 19 and now can run/bike faster, farther, and longer than ever before.

Life the Universe and Everything... looking forward to 42 next birthday. People won;t believe me when I tell them I'm in my 40's now anyway.... blessed with some good genetics, and preserved nicely with lots of cyclical exercise.
