help finding the correct tool?

I need to remove a lockring like this except with 8 notches. I am trying to replace the cog on my xxix, and am looking for a tool.

Anyone know what I need?

I use the same tool with every lockring. The standard Park lockring tool will work just fine.

i don't know if that was sarcastic. since i wasn't being snarky, i'm going to guess it wasn't. i don't know how easy it is finding bike tools at sears. your lbs will have one, and the internet has 'em for sure.

Oh sorry, no sarcasm intended. Sears would call it a hook spanner, but its probably alot more money than the tool would cost at the shop.

The XXIX uses a cassette hub according to the Raleigh site. That usually requires a tool like this. Can you post a picture of your setup? Or just head to your local shop, they'll make sure you get the right tool.

I would have taken a picture, but dont have my camera with me at the moment.

I think my bike may be set up differently, I dont see how that tool could possibly work anywhere on my hub. I will just go to the shop and figure this out.

I don't mean to quibble over tools, I just find that after using a hozan lock ring tool that my park feels oh so inadequate. Tightening a track lock ring with the park tool is a joke [though admitidly not its intended purpose].

^Agreed, there are much better versions of the tool than park. My point was basically they all have the same function but you are right, some function better than others.
