i was waiting for a red light in a trackstand (sometimes you gotta wait) and a gust of wind came so sudden and strong i wasnt able to hold it (or maybe i should blame the beer?). more of a bail than a crash but it was embarassing. thats the only time i fell last year.


not paying attention while riding a bike is never a good idea, ryansexton. i hit a parked car once when i was little cause i was looking behind me.

Hit an oil slick while climbing a hill while it was raining and whooop down I went, the bike slipped out from under while I was out of the saddle.

Watch out for those rainbow spots when it's raining, y'all.

wow to OP. I had my first foot down of the year when I hit an inch of black ice making a left turn on a ~10% grade.

ummmm ive only had my bike for a week now, but the 2nd night i went out it had just snowed a **** load in buffalo and i just didnt care...i wanted to ride so bad. everything went smoothly til i took a corner a lil too fast and got the bike sideways and went straight down on my left butt cheek. didnt do any damage to myself or the bike but my butt was a lil sore the next day

I fell off twice in a half hour period on Monday, once when I hit an ice patch and once trying to get into traffic and a bunch of pedestrians got in my way. I didn't have enough time to unclip so I fell over. And one of them, some old guy, leans over and says, "Thats what you get."

I had a lady attempt a U-turn without looking/signaling on a 2 lane road, causing me to slam into the front corner of her car and roll over the hood... does that count?

i was actually on my mountain bike, because we had just got about 5 or 6 inches of snow, and it was still falling. but my girlfriend works about 8 miles away from our apartment and she only started to drive about a year and a half ago (no, she is not 17, she is 26. she lived in Philly for over 6 years and never needed a car, so she never got a license.). and i was afraid for her to drive home. it was really crappy out so i rode my bike up to her work. normally would take about a half an hour. it took me about a hour, maybe an hour 15. there is about a 1 mile up hill, pretty steep grade, so i had to walk it a few times because my tires was just spinning in the snow and slush. i was across the street from where she works and i had to cross a 5 lane express way. i had just started to peddle and BAM! i slide out on the ice and smack on my left side. didn't hurt much, it was nice and snowy, but the ice underneath did give me a good crack on my hip. i got up and laughed. i never would have made it if i took my fixed gear. i got about a block from my place and my back wheel spun out and i had to kick the bike back or take a nut shot. now that would have been funny....for everyone but me.

Rode up on a sidewalk (gasp, I know) in the dark (yes with lights) and didn't see an uncovered electrical cavity. Front wheel went straight in (about 12" deep), flew over the handlebars. Just a couple bruises, but my after my buddy asked if I was ok, we both laughed our ***'s off. Actually pretty funny. And the best part, no bike damage.

I was putting my drop bar back on and forgot to put on my brakes. There is 3-4 feet wide walkway between the community garage and my apartment building. And, I was testing my bike setup (bar height and all) going up and down the narrow walkway.

I somehow got close enough to the garage wall and I am a noob so I decided to brake. ... Nothing happened. The garage wall was corrugated metal so I thought it better to slide/grind on it. ... Boy was I wrong!

You see when you build a garage out of corrugated sheet metals, you use nuts and bolts. I rammed into the protruding bolts. I dodged one but ate two. One on my shoulder and one really close to my left eye. ... Someone was watching over me on that one. ... I m never doing that again!

I fell over in front of the school I was student teaching at. I made it up and down hills, around graded turns, and ate crap so close to the bike rack that I hit my head on it when I fell. All the students and parents were standing around but not one person asked if I was ok. Don't remember a whole lot of why I fell, think it was ice under the snow, but I did smash my container of yogurt all over the papers I had graded the night before.

my friend sunk his wheel up to the hub into a sewer grate doin at least 25. i'll try to post a picture later, but he managed to bend both the top tube and down tube where they meet the head tube. it was bad.

Yeah, oil slicks suck, but y'know what's worse? Banana peels! This one time, I was riding behind Donkey Kong, and he threw a banana peel. I did a total 360 right off the track. Do you know how hard it is to get back up to speed when you're way off on the dirt?

yesterday: tried to do a skid on my resistance trainer. The thing flipped up and I almost fell off. Never again will I skid indoors.

i tripped while walking up my stairs last night. i'm way better at cycling than walking.

though, first snow of the year, i did the old "oops, there is a metal manhole under this snow and now i have to take my foot out of the clip and put it on the ground so that i don't make an ass of myself" trick. that's kinda approaching falling?

if you wanna skid indoors you gotta get rollers!
