Cheap(er) cycling clothes

So I love the clothes by Chrome, Rapha, and Swobo but for some reason I don't have a **** ton of money. Are there people selling this sort of styling for cheaper? I'm looking to move up from cut off dickies and thrift store t-shirts.

Bikes: Hummer H2

are you referring to cycling jerseys/bibs/chamois/etc, or more urban/vintage crossover style of knickers and wool track jackets?

if the former, yes; if the latter, no. that stuff is quite stylish, and typically not yet embraced by the massion industry, so won't be inexpensive for a bit.

Some affordable/comfortable pants/shants/knickers with no padding and a gusseted crotch would be great.

Unfortunately, I probably ask too much, and will have to make do with less than comfortable seams. Meh.

Buy crappy clothes, and you'll be constantly re-buyin them as they wear out. Buy quality and it'll last forever.

Yeah, I've been doing that for a while now but am looking to move into some clothes that are a little more classy. It seems like the options right now are:

Cut off dickies, goodwill dress pants, BDU's < $15
Good looking functional shzpants by Swobo, Chrome or Rapha for > $140

Seems like there should be a middle ground somewhere.

Ebay has been the middle ground for me.

Look for climbing clothes. Prana, Mountain Hardwear, Sickle, etc. Most of the pants will have gusseted crotches and a pretty large range of motion before they start binding. I used to use the Prana knickers with cheap shorts underneath before I bought my Craft knickers.

Military supply story. I got some pants that can be knickers and have articulated knees. **** is bombproof and cheap. If you don't have military supply around, Dickies.

swrve has cotton knickers for $80. Not cheap, but not as expensive as the others. I hear they're really nice.

Yes!

https://swrvecycling.com/

Their women's knickers are on sale right now too, for 60 instead of the regular 80. Gonna pick myself up a pair.

I've been thinking about a swrve hoodie for a while now.

Kucharik also has lots of reasonably priced, classic stuff.

I just got some Swrve stuff (base layer/hoodie/goretex jacket) and here is my advice on sizing from what I got. Their sizing is more "clothes" than cycling gear. I guess it is different for different people but I should have ordered down a size. Other than that good stuff/good price

I love how these threads always show up on my payday. I was just looking at Rapha's knickers too. I may still pull the trigger; does anyone have a pair?

Portland Cyclewear has some pretty sweet knickers I've been rocking for the last 200 miles or so. reasonably priced. They're holdin up.

Don't look as cool as Chrome ones, but they work.

By the way, I'm your older brother and I approve of you wearing linen pants.

Old Navy khakis. Roll the legs up so they don't get caught in your chain.

portlandcyclewear redesigned their knickers for 08, they look pretty sweet and seem like they'll be more durable
pretty cheap comparatively too at $59
just ordered some, hopefully they won't disappoint

just get some old utility pants- like dickies or carharts. check homedepot, surplus stores, etc. Ive found dickies to be solid, but carharts have things like reinforced spots
