Rain pants

I got soaked as **** today riding in the rain. I have a nice rainshadow jacket that I wear, but my pants were just terrible. I've been looking around for pants, and I've found a few...

I'm choosing these pants because most rain pants I see are super baggy, and these also have adjustable cuffs and waists. Anyone else have recommendations?

Wear shorts, put extras in the bag? I might be tempted to take that alternative, since it's more likely to ensure having 100% dry pants the rest of the day.

I pedicabbed in the rain today, and 2 hours later, I'm still soaked.

wonderful pants that I've been commuting in the rain with for a long while now. Good quality, great features and made in the US by fairly paid workers. What more could you want?

You'll only have to buy them once. also, try commuting 8 miles each way in the rain needing to look presentable with anything else and that might not seem so bad.

I wasn't being sarcastic, the pants I was looking at are $125 + for the most part.

Get a pair of slicker pants, like the kind that they use on fishing boats. Unlike ANY breathable pants they're actually water PROOF. Plus they're way way way cheaper. The lack of breathability hasn't been a problem for me, and I think sweat wont get you as wet as the rain in the long run.

yeah, I just used a $30 walmart rain suit, you do sweat alot, but still dryer than the rain.

Tights are the best for cycling in the rain, hands down. My MEC Vueltas stay warm when wet, dry fast and do not restrict movement like wet pants. I revert to them for my giant 50 kilometer commute in the wet Vancouver winter after commuting all summer in my work shorts, and change when I get to work. The looking gay part is hard but I manage to cope.

man, i'll tell you... i've got a very similar pair of kokatat's and they're not something I would want to be caught dead wearing in public. They look ridiculous when you're not in a boat. The neoprene waist band goes up to my ribs and they look, generally, like old-school parachute pants, especially since they're tight around the ankles. Get yourself a pair of PVC material rain pants from a discount store and take them in and add a zipper at the ankles. That's what I would do.

yeah if you're going to be in portland definitely invest in rain pants. keep an extra set of shoes and/or socks handy. the shorts idea wouldn't work here since it only rains when its cold.

i have used these with much success. my only wish is that they were full zip (which they make in this model, i just didn't know at the time)

they are only so-so on the breathability, but they are certainly waterproof. it's an unfortunate trade-off that in certain cases you are either going to have legs soaked in rain or sweat, your choice.

i got a pair of montbell pants with zippers at the cufs. the best part is they pack into a tiny little capsule about 3 inces long. i always have them in my mess bag and dont even remember they are there unitl i need them, super light and 100% wateproof, as is the windbreaker they came with. they really are the bomb!
