I think I can contribute to this topic a bit. I have owned my KiloTT for several years and many, many thousands of miles. I have had a few spills and one minor/major crash into a car witch destroyed the fork (as expected for a track fork with mostly lateral support), but I am still riding on the original rims/hubs/bearings, chain, and crank. Besides stuff that was damaged due to "incidents" or theft it only takes grease and a little bit of care (even the bottom bracket lasted till last year) and a few sets of cheap tires to make this bike reliably perform for a long time! I don't know how much "cred" I would have on this site as a noob, but as someone who has extensively used the made in Taiwan masterpiece I firmly recommend it for anyone. Best $300 I ever spent!!!!

hey, with the frameset, did you guys get an odd fork? i got the 53 and the steerer tube comes out about 3.5 inches out of the top of the head tube. but the weird thing is that the bottom is unthreaded and painted white, but about 3/4 of an inch from the top of the headtube the threading starts, and is about 2 inches long. it doesnt make any sense, because to run threaded i would have to cut it down and rethread it, but to run threadless i would have to run the stem on the threaded part. maybe the bikesdirect guy can shed some light on this? thanks

I am interested in the 53cm black.. the one they still have.. Any one that has built one, what do you need to install the headset? Ive read some on it, but am confused. Do I have to get the fork threaded? I read some people had to get the steer tube cut?
I emailed Jeff at bike island about getting one for a threadless setup, but he said its not possible..
Can someone tell me about their build? We need a sticky for the kilo tt build..
Thanks

I really don't think that is much of an argument. Examples are needed that show that these parts fail (which is the only qualification for "crap" in my book) that can make that statement true. My Motobecane has all of its drive train/fork/wheel comps. from the day I bought it 8 months ago and the thing rides fine with normal upkeep.
