Whats with the cards in the spokes

I'm a fan of individuality and peronal fashion statements, but I just don't get the cards in the wheels. Where did it come from and...uhh...what the hell?

Hey guys, can I put a brake on a fixed gear? Whats the best tire for skidding? Can I convert this bike? I want to get a sick lugged vintage track frame for $200 bucks, where can I get one? What are those cool wheels with 5 spokes called? Why do you guys ride those stupid bikes anyway?

Bikes: fixed gear raleigh super record, Fixed gear tall bike, SS tall bike, Triple high tall bike, Trek 4500, Diamond back viper, trek 800/nishiki chopper bike, I think/hope thats all

I always thought the cards were modern replacements for those reflector things that used to come on wheels. What ever happened to those, and can you integrate them into an arrospoke?

Just get some clear packing tape and wrap the tape around the spoke and reflector. The tape makes it aero.
