Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You took a functioning multi speed bike, paid even more money for a new wheel set, and made it fixed.

Seems like a waste.

They were ugly? And the tires provided better "reflector visibility".

how is it a waste? the bike rides SO much better now due to the fact that its muchhhh lighter, the wheels are truer (and not made from steel), the hubs spin better, and theres not a set of 1980 low-end shifters/deraillers to mess with.

And it is so much better because she will actually want to ride it because it is pretty.

It is nearly perfect; perfection would be some slim chrome fenders and perhaps a basket.

Great job!
