Absolutely.

Depending on the price we are looking at, I have a wonderful older shimano 105 group that would fit nicely on one of these, the frame it's on is a little small for me...I would probably be in on it, price dependent of course.

group buy, eh?

I've seen them, but I don't know the specifics

what did the timing look like on the last IRO group buy?

for a year now it has been nearly impossible to get stuff from Taiwan in a timely fashion

The IRO group buy was something like half down and then wait something like 4 months (is that right? I'm going from memory here) from the deadline. A long wait certainly CAN make a group buy proposition less appealing, but as far as I know it was generally a success. Maybe someone who got in on that one can comment. I was tempted, but I didn't join in, because I didn't need another track frame.

It was a third down, then the remainder when they were ready to ship. According to the emails I got, it looks like it was about five months between when I placed the deposit, and when the frame was ready to ship.

That Kogswell looks pretty sweet. Tempting.

All those people knew their suggestions were impossible, and they were joking.

i speak taiwanese and chinese, i can help out.

barba 04-30-08 04:43 PM

If it can get a good price, count me in on the PR. It is a cool bike.

x136 04-30-08 07:44 PM

Damn, this has me thinking about all kinds of nerdy stuff to hang on such a frame. Big ol' racks, handlebars that are practical (horror!), sprung saddles, generator hub and lights...

barba 04-30-08 07:51 PM

You are about to ban most of the people that would be interested, it would seem.

What's nerdy about a cro-mo rack that weighs under two pounds and can carry forty pound?

And how nerdy is a hub that powers a light that's bright enough to light up the street ahead?

And we build them with horizontal dropouts so you can use a fixed/free hub in the back.

I've been looking for a good touring bike for a while now, and that P/R might be what I need. On your website, the smallest listed size has a seat tube of 53.6 cm and a standover of 768mm (30.24"). Is there a smaller size? Could there be a smaller size (49-51cm, 28-29" standover)? I may be very interested...

Y'all are killing me on the PR thing. Must. Resist.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a giant nerd, and these thoughts are pleasing thoughts. I mean "nerdy" in a good way. :)

I've been reading up on this stuff all day in lieu of working. It's great fun.

I'm nerdy in a very similar way, but I don't have a proper racky fendery lighty nerdy bike, hence the reason I brought up this idea.

thurstonboise 04-30-08 08:22 PM

I would love a PR. Details up in a month?

In on PR as well, depending on price.

damn, that looks so awesome. assuming there is a group buy (and i'm still not banned) would this be potentially for a complete? or frame/fork/fenders/etc as you advertise on your site?

Kogswell P/R Baby!

Igneous Faction 04-30-08 10:04 PM

I may be in on the P/R, though the soon to be coming out bikesdirect "super-practical, eyeleted, big clearance" bike might fill that need better, cheaper.

hxzero 04-30-08 10:14 PM

Might be in if I can scrape up some cash.

Heck, bikeisland has the Rivendell Bleriot for $500

Igneous Faction 04-30-08 10:21 PM

I don't have 500 to sling around, unfortunately. But their frame should be sub-300.
