Me too, it really emphasises that he is serious dammit! He only wants performance and none of that poseur style crap like brakes and water bottle holders, good on him i say, they just add weight and take away from said performance.
Hopefully he has his Vans or Dunks already picked out to go with those 'performance' clips and straps he has in mind....

I am going to build a track bike from the frame up. I want a new one, not a vintage anything. Modern components and the lot. The frame has to be under $500. Problem is, every frame I look up on the net has those damn water bottle bosses that ruin the look of an otherwise clean sleek bike. IRO, Pake, Surly, bareknuckle all have bosses and braze-ons and I do NOT want to deal with Leader. Any suggestions on nice clean track frames w/o bosses or braze-ons or fork cut outs? NO BRAKES, NO WATER, I just want a frame that is meant to be ridden and no other bs about it.

If that tiny hole ruins the look of the bike for you (meaning the OP), then you have some issues. If you are that much of a sensitive princess, the scuffs on the tires, paint chips, and grime on your chain make will probably ruin the look for you too, so don't plan on riding your bike. How about filling that hole with a brake?

Chucksbikes Tsunami track frame has no bosses, no brakes mounts, the rear doesn't even have a brake bridge! It's uber-light and the geometry is tight. I had mine powdercoated black and love it.

I have an old Rampar 10 speed frame that has no bosses, or a derailleur hanger. I think most old 10 speeds are like that.

On behalf of all of us who ride our bikes more than 30 miles at a clip and have to lash bottle mounts on with fricking hose clamps so that we don't dry up mid ride, suck it.
The kilo / flite / spicer frames don't have bottle mounts - they do have fender/rack mounts though. And any holes can get filled in when a frame is getting powdercoated, for what it's worth. A guy here got his bareknuckle de-holed and you'd never know that it was originally drilled for brakes.

Damn! So much hate! For those of you who think I am a sensitive princess, I ride a thirty four year old trash Peugeot, to and from work every day, rusty cottered cranks and all. I built the thing from salvaged parts and couldn't give less of a crap about what others think when they see me blasting around on a bike that I love the look and feel of.

Brakes? Hell yeah they are poseur sauce! I'm not going to need them often because most the time i will be off my bike mingling with the bike scene ladies anyway. Some people say riding bikes without brakes is a liberating feeling and forces you to think ahead further. I say screw that! I think it just looks better without that junk (at least thats what I see guys riding in MASH)
You're wrong about one thing however, I'm not concerned about weight or performance, I'm concerned about style and looking fresh!
(Honestly, I wouldn't be getting the same negative responses if I were all particular about some high-end road bike or mountain bike. Just because track bikes are catching on with hipsters and "cool" people shouldn't immediately make it a sin to want that particular kind of bike. You know why I don't want any bottle bosses, cable housing braze-ons or drilled bridges and forks? It's because I won't ever use them on this bike, and I will be throwing hard-earned money at it.)

What you're looking for isn't readily available for $500 I guess. People are trashing you because you're so obviously buying a bike for looks and not "performance", which is fine, as many of the haters have done the same thing. Myself included. Make some compromises and you'll be golden.
