More help needed-this time chain woes
So damn close to finishing my first ever build (pretty much the first thing I've ever built since Lego pirate ship circa 1989).
Getting ready to ride when I ran into some chain lengthening problems.
I have an Izumi black chain (the cheaper one), which comes with a funny masterlink and clip, which goes into one of the runners. I popped out too many links and actually managed to reattach one after quite a struggle.
I'm one link too long but I can't remove it because it will be one of the runner ones which the masterlink slots into (either side). I can't move my wheels back either because they have these screwed in tensioners.

What do I do (apart from changing cog/chainring which can't happen for at least another week)?

you can't adjust the tensioner so it is further back?

The tensioner has that spring built in which only lets it go back about .8mm or something (which seems to slightly defeat the point I guess).
It has a small flat head screw head inside and outside just a textured head for finger turning. Might just break them off.
I would really rather not go through the hell of putting links back in with no masterlink. Took me forever with the tiny chain breaker on my multi tool.
I've seriously had it with living in the countryside.
And the pervy old teacher guy downstairs just sort of language barriered me into going drinking with him tomorrow night to one of his favourite hostess bars. No ride, Kindergarten in the morning with no music to play and a night of drunken electronic dictionary searching.
Urgh.

but anyway just grab some pliers or something and break off the ****ers, I've seen other people do it just fine. then the top part should twist out hopefully.
when you broke the chain did you pull the rivet all the way out to the point it fell out?

I mismeasured the chain length initially. I got it back by sanding down the edges slightly of the tip of the rivet. Which I'm pretty sure is very unsafe. Suppose I should replace the chain next chance I get.
Going to snap them right now.

Just remove or backout the tensioners (well they really aren't tensioners but whatever). You don't need them for you application.

tommy, when you break a chain you're supposed to leave the rivet just attached on the one side of the link for easy re-insertion. Everyone makes that mistake

Yes, I did do that but I was a little overzealous at first with removing the first links. The masterlink is one of those 3 piece ones, with one side which has the two rivets attached and then the other side with holes and a clip which then goes over these to hold the rivets in. So I needed to completely remove one of the end rivets but took to many off (I really should learn to stop learning the hard way!).

Truth is, the only way you're bike will stick out here, is to run the most normal looking parts!
I went to buy a bolt on brake the other day and the had every anodized colour under the sun but no silver.
Got black instead.

Then take the tensioner apart and remove it completely. You are really overthinking this.
