They measure C-T so their size 53 is a 51 C-C. So if the 53 that you ride normally is measured C-C then you should order their 55. As side update, I got an email from Joseph saying that my unpainted, drilled frame will ship in a few days. So I guess those that are getting theirs powdercoated having a week+ till their bikes ship out.

Its here!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Alien frame arrived today, unpainted no drilling.I will be taking it to a local powder coating shop to pick out my color (over 100). I hope everyone else gets theirs soon. Pictures will be next

Anyone heard anything else on Alien Bikes? Also colerc51, have you taken any pictures yet?
|
the frames seem over priced to me, just my opinion, but they may be better than i think, we'll just have to wait and see.

FIX!! (HA! pun intended) I call Shenanigans! |
Just buy the bare frame and put on several coats of clear coat. It looks pretty sweet already.
|
I want to see pictures of these built up...
|
And the entire time I thought the cool thing about Alien was that he made his own frames...
Should have known. More taiwanese crap! Anyways, picking up my '05 Pista Concept tomorrow :) Good luck to everyone with the aliens :P |

FIX bike shop in downtown san diego has an alien frame on display. it is really sharp looking and unbelievably light.
no, they are not handmade. how many of us can really afford to buy a handmade frame? show of hands... sure i'd all love to buy a handmade bike built here in the good ol USA but without a stack of disposable cash or access to some uranium and the flux capacitor, i will most likely settle for some "taiwanese crap". when it's time to make a big purchase, (and for me a $500-$700 bike qualifies), the final decision usually is based on my personal economy and how i can get the most bang for my buck, (which with each passing day delivers less of a bang). i am selling a surfboard and a bike in order to buy the alien. my country sold it's manufacturing industry while i was watching HAPPY DAYS. btw, joseph at alien seems cool as heck. he's emailed me three times this morning with answers to my questions about frame fit. peace |

I'm strongly considering getting an Alien fo sho. My KHS track is dying a slow death and I miss lugs.
Oh yeah, even I was laughing about the Concept thing... |
lol that was the first time I ever responded quickly enough to QED someone. i am thinking of an alien for my semi-budget SS commuter later this year. I really like the powdercoat options.
|
I am curious to see whether the powdercoating messes with the way the lugs should look, as opposed to painting the frame instead. If it's too thick, the detail of the lugs doesn't show so well.
Clear powdercoat would be awesome though, I saw a Rivendell photo (I believe it was) of such a finish. |
Hmm. That's a good point. When my buddy got his Pista powdercoated, it did a real nice job of hiding those tig weld marks where the tubes meet...

Ahh yes, Latin, my favorite language!

Did the the insurance check-out lady become an internet phenomenon - or are we just consuming drones? I check her out more closely now. I'd hit it. . |

actually, yes. :D (outside its math/physics use) it is a minor, joking insult with the same meaning and intent as "pwnt" or "owned noob"
