just got a pair yesterday from my local shoe store installation !
it also comes with a small bag to hold a spare tube/co2 which velcro's onto your seat rails.
some other cool things: its got reflective stripes woven into the laces, and the vans logo on the back is reflective.
i also like how the front of the shoe ( ill call it the toe cap) is extra large, with the laces starting near the middle of the shoe so they dont get stuck in your toeclips. And the toe cap feels really burly.
too bad there kinda expensive (80$) but i think theyll last long enough to make it worth it.
they are also kinda heavy like twice as heavy as another pair of vans i have, i think that they reinforced the sole.

It didn't mention if they stiffened up the sole or anything.

this was released a long time ago but there was no word on the actual release date of the shoes. i'm assuming they're limited release and not going to be available in too many stores. have yet to see them in person. i'd like to actually see them before buying online for $80

They are limited........Well so Vans tells us. You have to find a Vans "Vault" dealer. Not just any store that carries Vans is a vault dealer. Hence they only distribute Vault releases to Vault account holders. I'm pretty sure they've done nothing to the shoe it's just a regular ass era with a seat fanny pack.

they've had them at DQM for like 2 months now. i like the grey color way and the 3M and all, but they don't seem too different than any other eras. my shoes have a few weeks of life in them still, but once they're done i might pick a pair of these up if there are any left in my size.

From: My response would have been something along the lines of: "Does your bike have computer controlled suspension? Then shut your piehole, this baby is from the future!"
Bikes: to many to list
I dont like them
They look like what we used to call "skippys." Back in the day all the poor kids (me included) that couldnt afford Chuck Taylors wore skippys. They sucked.

so i was down at the shoe store. The Era's actually have a thicker sole than the vans fixed gear shoe. Its a noticeable difference. Other than that i would say they are pretty much the same, except for the reflective accents and saddle bag.

yah they are by far the worst part. same color laces on the whites? i like the grey/black enough to buy em, but black or white laces would do them good

I run MKS L clips on size 10 Vans. These shoes would equal laces interference, and the rubber piping is wearing down for me, not my actual canvas upper. The piping is worn down on the inner sides where my straps touch my shoes, and the cage is leaving two spots on the toe of my left shoe.
Looks like pure marketing to me. Laceless with a ballistic nylon reinforcement and stronger piping...... now we're talkin'.

Wick Wick Wack! In the late 80's early 90's Vans made a shoe which myself and other sponsored riders(limited to teamriders only) loved because of it's ultra stiff sole. Vans discontinued production of the shoe due to BMX taking on the clipless pedal. Steve Van Doren had talked about re-releasing that very shoe to the masses but it was scrapped after Steve sold the company to Vanity Fair(Yes the Magazine) in 2004. Since the acquisition Vans Shoes have become nothing more than fashion before function crap!(Nice attempt VF at tapping the fixed fad w/o doing some research first)
