Congrats on your new bike! Don't chop and flop the bars, get a real bullhorn.

solbrothers 12-27-08 03:08 PM

+1 on bullhorns. and agree w/ the crappy saddle comment. that was one of the first things i swapped out.

and as far as size 13 mtb shoes, i scored a pair of basically brand new specialized mtb shoes for $14 shipped on ebay.

Understanding 12-27-08 03:20 PM

i keep going back and forth on drops or risers, i like straps and clips (it's a cheaper setup over all IMO).

and i haven't even pulled the trigger on any saddle as of yet...

solbrothers 12-27-08 04:38 PM

i bought bullhorns when i first got my biek. but switched them out for a pair of narrow 70's road drops. havent used the bullhorns for months

My Bottom Bracket popped out but the shop fixed it. Should I be worried about this happening again?

unogear 12-29-08 03:37 PM

Maybe not tighten since you got your bike, I think it should be fine now. Keep spot check on everything before a ride.

wslysol 12-29-08 09:07 PM

52

p120ud213azn 12-30-08 12:39 AM

lol is 52 too big for you still? why is the seat so low

otherwise, i love the matching whites

i was thinking of matching the horns seat, rims and maybe even chain white but that strap just made my 'matching list' lol

what seat is that? and where did u get those white straps? leather i presume

wslysol 12-30-08 01:10 AM

its a charge spoon, and mks straps

Understanding 12-30-08 01:44 AM

you sure you got that seat adjusted right?

When you find out, let me know. My 16 year old son has a 13 and can't find shoes anywhere.

Because we said so. :notamused:

Everyone knows that what a group of anonymous people on the interwebs think about how your bike looks is _far_ more important than it being adjusted to where it is comfortable to ride.

:p

i went to REI christmas eve and got myself some pearl izumi mtb shoes. i think they are size 47 or 48 which is 13. they are a little snug but they fit just like my old football cleats used yo so i am happy. im sure you would do this but make sure he tries them on first.

solbrothers 12-31-08 09:54 PM

ebay ebay ebay. i got my specialized mtb shoes for like $15 shipped. nearly brand new. couldnt tell they were used

well considering crank length and stand over height, there can't be any way this guy will be comfortable on that.

p120ud213azn 01-04-09 03:31 PM

what size is the allen wrench to tighten the stock crank?

HandsomeRyan 01-05-09 08:12 AM

Talk me out of this...

I'm considering the purchase of a 'Jury' frameset to transfer the parts from the Messenger. I can run much larger tires on the Jury and hopefully quit getting so many flats. Also, as much as I love the orange paint- that chrome frame is sweet!

Understanding 01-05-09 08:39 AM

too much work man.

also, why not just buy new parts so you'd have a jury and still have your messenger?

if you run gatorskin tires or armadillo tires, you may get less flats, even at a size like 23c.
