Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

you right, in the big scheme of things 300 is not a lot of money. But for a wheel that is of debatable durablity, heavy, will get you laughed at or **** talked on & can get you blown over ina crosswind, it's pretty ****ty. Rather get some cxp 33 or open pros laced to miche hubs or something like that with that money instead.

people are always going to talk smack. as long as you aren't hurtin anyone do what you like and f*** em. no one's laughing at me, and if they are they have bigger probs than rockin an aerospoke. me, i like my spoke. HED 3s are beautiful but who's got that money right now.

trick to tri-spokes is you don't buy them new.

the other trick to tri-spokes on the cheap is a secret, but it's revealed in the mash credits. i'm not joking either.

If you're not bothered by the s*** talkin, why're you on here?

90% of people w/ arrospoks have them for looks. I like looks, no problem with that. But I'm not gonna buy 2K spinnas for my hooptymobile just so people will look at my ride. That's what arrospoks are like.

most people i know who have aero wheels get over them and sell them in a surprisingly short amount of time. one kid i know sold his rear in about 2 days flat. when it comes down to it, aerospokes ride kind of sloppy.

I suppose its hard for some people to understand that certain riders hook up there bike just because they love looking at it and riding it. not so others can look at it. Its functional art that makes some people feel good all over. and who cares if its a hoopty. If you like it you like it. Not everyone is watching the mash vid with a notepad taking notes on the hottest new trends. and I'm here for fun who said anything about us talkin s***. I'm being educated by the informed members of bikeforums, no s*** here.

Mash vid is old trends. New trends: silver rims, classy bikes.

i dig 'em. when painted all black they look good. they look hokey with the machined sidewalls.

Bikes: Check the sig to find out

When I had them I rode the crap out of them. They are not fast wheels when sprinting(due to them being flexy), but when you get up to speed and keep it steady in the saddle, you can maintain the speed easier. I liked them a lot and I didn't care if I got crapped on for them. They are great for strength training though. I've hit numerous large pot holes and not even a lick out of true from the 1st time I got them. When I switched to spoked wheels my bike felt totally different because the wheels were so much more stiffer but the time I had with them was enjoyed.

Bikes: How'd I get this many?

I approve of this thread! I keep on checking the dates, wondering if it is from a few years ago, as somehow a bunch of the "old" folks all popped up at once.

I like it. Gyeswho, Andre N., Sashae, Sniks, Deathhare, and Baxtefer all postin' together. I haven't seen that happen in a long time.

Aerospokes are the bicycle scene's version of a fart can muffler on a civic. Perceived performance is better than actual performance. . . even if it means it costs twice as much to get it!

Bikes: 2012 Motobecane Vent Noir; 2016 Mercier Kilo TT Pro

^^^ That's only when you tape an aerocard to the aeroforks so that it can slap against the aerospokes.

yes it's true, but you have to be on a quiet street to really hear them well. they sound like helicopters in the distance

I just sold mine, what a piece of ****. It's so heavy, probably slower than a my spoked wheel. Oh, and i can actually see it flex when i sprint or do a rollout. Crapppp.

That's an excellent analogy.
