checklist on wheelies
yes i've searched, tried all the tips, and am still frustrated:
here's what i'm doing - please critique.
gearing - 48x18, 700c's front and back.
starting at a low speed 5-10mph, powerfoot at 12, pushing down with it while pulling up on the handlebars --- seat as far back as possible.
when i get this right, the front wheel pops up about 2.5-3 feet. after that it slams it down. i try to follow the crank rotation with my weaker leg, but by the time it rotates, the front wheel is down. Am also trying really hard to use my upper body to pull the front back.
both feet are uncaged as a safety precaution etc. any more tips? The one posted tip I didnt understand was to pull with the weak foot. It's a bit hard not-caged in. Is this necessary?
Any other tips - my stem is a bit long and my seat height is for normal riding with the seat at the very middle of the seat rails on the seatpost.
any advice would be great. been trying this for a good 2 hrs/day for the last 4 days =/.
im happy my front deep v isnt out of true after being slammed so many times. lol

at that point it's about leaning back a good amount (further!) right until you pop the bike out from under you. aside from that, it's a matter of good even spin. you need to transition quickly from a good torque to an even pedal or the front will come back down.

when you lean back is your butt still on the seat? my taint area was at the very end of my seat - OR should i lower the seat and try to just lean back and stand over it?

Im not too great at the two handed wheelie but i can do the one handed alright. I started with the two handed but i could never get them to go that long.
i do a no handed pop up and grab the bar with my left hand and hold it parrallel to my top tube and lean back and ride. Its all about leaning back because if you lean forward all of your side to side movements are magnified and will make you tip one way or the other, cutting your wheelie short.
ohh, and use your other arm to balance, i usually throw it behind me a lil bit.
you might want to start with the two handed, because if you mess up with the one handed and your wheel is perpendicular to the ground your gonna fall real bad, and mess up your wheel.
