flip and chop b123

go for it, I think my ideal bullhorns would be flipchop 123s

they just seem like they would be the best for comfort due to the curve and for the narrowness

Just get some cheap narrow drops and do the same thing. Once you do it you will regret it.

I just snagged a b123 on eBay for $20 shipped and I'm thinking of doing the same (Already use a pair normal style and I love them). Does anyone have any pics of this? There has to be a couple on that Tokyo Fixed Gear thread...

If you think these bars would fit your style of riding, awesome. But, for me flipped 123s would effectively give maybe one decent hand position. There's a reason no produced TT or bullhorn bars have a bend like that or come really narrow.

Hey,

I think Chop-Fliping B123 wouldn't do me good because that the curling-up part of the bar would be quite far from me. Also, I think that curvy roof is gonna make your upright flat bar position uncomfy, leaving you with only ONE practical position. I just chopped B105 (pretty much run-of-mill drop bar) and it has three positions.

If you really want a narrow bullhorn, what you ought to search is another Nitto model. B263. This comes at 300mm. ... I have no clue how you are gonna benefit from such narrow bullhorn. ...

Oh and the pict,

https://3bancho.com/diary/20061117.html

You can see a real one if you in Tokyo. There is one with B123 chop-flip in Jinbocho ... and this one is blue. This made me reallly wanna make one myself, but it appears I can't use it without hurting myself.

T

I actually just posted some pictures of my khs with flipped and chopped 123s in a different thread, although the ones I have aren't all that skinny, maybe 42cm. I find them really comfortable---three distinct positions: up by the stem on the flattest part; the beginning of the curve, where the bars are projecting sort of diagonally forward and outward; and way at the ends, where they're just pointing straight forward. They have a shorter reach and less drop than the rb021s.

These are almost the kind of bars i'm looking for. I'd like to have just the slightest of drop like the syntace stratos 200 but without the slight sweepback. If i could find myself some cheap b123's, i'd def give it a go.

edit* I was considering finding some randonneur(sp?) bars and flip chopping to get that slight drop I was talking about, anyone try this?

who cares about a hugely mass produced bar anyway?
its not like b123s are rare or special and used sets are usually cheap.
