I really like Knob Creek, but in a manhattan? Not too sure about that. I'll try it but I usually make them with brandy.

But I must say, my whiskey tooth is acting up after reading this thread. Perhaps I will be paying the booze store a visit on my way home today.

I don't really care to have a steady girl, I like to play the field some. I don't get too fancy if at all well because after a point the money inhibits my pleasure (Ok I'm tight/close/cheap...). For the most part I'll try anything, I'm a whisky/scotch/bourbon whoor I enjoy a new experience. I find I enjoy blends over singles as some of the singles I've tried were too strident for me (probably because they were on the low end of the economic spectrum...lol).

Bottom line I love the stuff, bring it on.

Guess I'm a little close to the gutter here, but I like good 'ol Jack Daniels, Gentleman Jacks,
and have been known to have more than a few drinks w/ Jim Beam - it's my bar's well & it's even on
a chilled tap line for shots. Beam's great grandson (he's 60 or so) was down here last year to personally oversee the installation and drink straight from the tap....evidently, the bar was one of the top private
customers for Beam (not counting liquor stores etc)

Another cheapie I've found recently is Buffalo Trace - Kentucky bourbon as well.

I'm actually having my motorcycle (72 Honda CB750) and my fixie project painted a candy whiskey.
I took a bottle of Jack Daniels into the paint store and had them match the color in a glass....
I'll post pics when I'm done painting.

Jameson too, but J & B seems less harsh.

It's kinda disquised...here's the photoshop I did before I started it. It's just lacking paint and a tail light now. Runs like a champ (after some work & whiskey) The color will be whiskey....not the coppery color that this look like.




I spent all last weekend polishing the hubs, cranks, stem & bits and pieces for the fixie....so it will
be candy whiskey & shiney.

Still not a fan of Blue Label, pricey and not that great unless you like whisky really dry. It's a blend, expensive at that.

Good whisky is just as good in cocktails as neat. An old-fashion takes good bourbon pretty well.

I'll stoop to the Heaven Hill with no qualms, but Jameson is my standby.
Woodford Reserve is my current favorite bourbon (which is, in turn, my favorite type of whiskey).

Bushmills or Powers. Neat.

Rye whiskey for me
Canadian Club, or Canadian Club Reserve mainly.
But I also enjoy Crown Royal and the occasional Wiser's.

Ardbeg, Talisker, Clynelish, JWG, Glenmorangie Sauterns are some of my favorites. Never had a better scotch than Ardbeg.

For me Makers Mark is the only bourbon that exists.

Balvenie Doublewood is my favorite single malt. I don't drink blends.

My friends and I get thrown out of bars when we drink Ten High.

Knob creek.

Tastes great straight, and doesn't give me a headache, even when consuming mass quantities.

I think I'll go pour a glass right now.

Laphroaig in bars will be hard to come by; head to a good liquor store. I was able to order Balvenie Port Wood in a couple of places here in Huntsville but at $20 a glass it got expensive quite rapidly.

I recently bought a bottle of Bookers bourbon. Didn't much care for it as it was 127 proof; you only tasted alcohol.

If anyone is ever in Minneapolis/St. Paul there is a great whiskey bar in North St. Paul called the Muddy Pig. Crazy good selection of whiskeys, and copious amounts of tap micro-brews. It's great.

I've since discovered Lagavulin, a single islay malt whisky, aged 16 years. It tastes like a mouthful of peat, and your tongue just bathe in campfire smoke and honey. This ***** is good. But I still drink the piss-caramel wonder liquid on Tuesday nights, for fear of being pegged a liquor snob. Which I ain't.
