They all look great. Are the only differences the bars and the seats?

Also, where'd you get your head badge made? I'd like to get a Virgin of Guadalupe one made one day.

I'm not sure if you're joking, but I'll assume you're not. So do you just bend the pendant to conform to the tube? How do you then attach it? I don't see any rivets drilled, so I assume you attach something to the back.

Thanks in advance.

If you need a custom badge, you should check out Jen Green at headbadges.com. She created on for me and it is more jewelry than anything.

very nice. clean bike mate . i see you have several different configurations for components... you wouldn't happen to have OCD would you?

i'm actually looking at getting the same crankset... how do you like it?

also a silly question.. but how would you measure to see what kind of bottom bracket would fit your bike?

I know it will vary depending on the badge and the amount of work, but do you know what the approximate price range for her badges is?

Not joking: Dremeled off the chain-loop, bent the pewter pendant (quite easily actually) around the headtube, remove a small circle of powerdercoating down to the steel frame, and JB-Welded it in place. Ta-Da!

That's great. There's certainly no shortage of virgen pendants out there, so I could do it super cheap this way. Thank you sir!

Alien bikes told me the 103mm BB that came with their crankset produced a 42mm chainline, the Paul hubs create a 44mm chainline, so I figured I needed a BB with 2mm x2sides more, and ordered a 107mm Shimano UN54.

If the pewter is too thick to bend with your fingers, there are simple ways to deform the pendant to the diameter of the headtube - you can put together a makeshift wooden press (wood won't damage the pewter) like so:

A local shop got some head badges from her. they look awesome. I am pretty sure they paid ~150

Good stuff though. I'm definitely going to that route. I appreciate you sharing your secret. Should I ever have anything worth divulging, I'll give it right up.

Alien and Andel cranks are the same but Alien is cheaper. Joseph sent someone at the Other Place an email confirming this.

EDIT: The bike looks great btw! I am planning to pick one up at some point.

Can you get a stand-over height measurement? I'm thinking I want the 61 but maybe the 59 would be better. I'm curious how close the measurement on their website is to real-world builds.

Jcapell,

NICE build!

I have the same XA Cinelli stem with a 26mm diameter clamp. I also have a Cinelli drop bar with 26 mm diameter. For some reason, I really have to crank down on the stem bolt to tighten onto the 26 mm bar. Did you find that you had to clamp down on the bolt a lot, too? Did you keep the black rubber piece between the clamp surfaces on your Cinelli stem, or did you remove it to clamp down on your bar?

Thanks!

I'm concerned that you may have a 26.4mm clamp - there are plenty of shims available to add .4mm to a bar, I'm using some on the 'barhop' build to hold those 25.4 risers in a 26.0 clamp.

If you are certain that you have a 26.0, as long as the bars don't rotate under force, you should be OK. I left out the rubber insert, never could get it to look good.

Nice bike..
but if I were you stick with one saddle and handle bar.
Sell the rest of the items so you can get yourself a nicer set of cranks???
