Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? There are things going on here you folks don't understand.

Yes I can get a new Panasonic on ebay for $800, but look at the differences.

Look, there's a reason half the shoes in my collection are older than me...and will outlast me. Sure I can go out & but some Kenneth Coles, Guccis, Pradas. But those are throw away shoes. That dented frame comes with a story & history behind the dent, plus it will sell for more than I bought it for after I'm done with it. Youngsters.

i was watching Greg Lemond win the Tour on Wide World of Sports when you were in diapers. don't compare an old, dented bike frame to a nicely worn in pair of shoes.

Seriously. People on here have no idea what they're talking about. The Sparton is a really nice, serious track frame like the Hour, but that 3rensho is worth a bit more than your standard, vanilla Rensho frame thanks to that dent and its possibly hardcore history. You might check whether it is/was owned by a messenger, since that couldn't hurt the value either.

Get the 3rensho and do it up with proper NJS components -- that bike deserves it. It's a great deal on a sweet bike with character.

Maybe post pics of some of those classic shoes when you get a chance so people have a better feel for what you're talking about.

pretty sure he was being sarcastic. seriously, though, put down the Kool-Aid. don't spend $800 bucks on a crashed frame.

as for the serious track frame thing, according to the sparton geometry page - https://www.thevarsityproject.org/geometry - track geometry it ain't got..

I know fellas. Just that that was extremely mild coming from "the bitter one".

After speaking with Jorge from Sparton on the phone, it became clear that they measured 1 (probably small) frame & guessed the rest of the sizes geometry.

This video (seeing the bike) is what has me ready to order.

That video also proves my theory about riding brakeless, how top tube dents are formed & that bunny-hop 180s are for BMX bikes.

"tight geometry" ??
you just want a low clearance fork?

because the 71 degree headtube angle on the sparton is anything but "tight"
have fun on your new dumptruck.
