Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah, the ignorant owners who want to make a buck where ever they can jack up the prices.
Every once in a while you get someone who isn't a super capitalist, and lists things for fair, or even better than fair prices (i got a campagnolo record/mavic gl330 front wheel for like $30)

I usually start my opening price on things I sell higher than I would like to get. E.g., I sold a hardly used Brooks w/ Proofide for $75. I asked $80.

I am currently selling some wheels w/ Suntour Superbe pro hubs and Araya rims and brand new Conti 4000 tubs for $275.

These seem like reasonable prices to me.

I also bought a Thomson post for $40 and some Deda Newton road bars for $40. You just gotta know what you are looking for and at. CL is great under those conditions.

That does seem like a good price. You do see some great stuff for good prices usually sold by bike owners that know the value of their bikes and want to sell it fast. You just gotta be quick and get there first. I have dealt with good people that hold things for you if you are the first to contact them. Like this guy that sold me a NIB Shimano Ultegra front brake for $20. That thing stops like nobody's business. He had rare vintage tarck bikes hanging in his ceiling, omg. oops, I wet myself.
So, I was ranting, not whining as someone mentioned.

yeah there's ridiculousness for days on NYC's bike CL, but there's also some great deals. i've had four epic wins via CL over the last 2 months. you just have to check it several times a day and jump right away when you see a deal.

i've also made money on everything i've sold on there, too. great place to unload parts you don't need for quick cash. i'm not afraid of buying random parts on Ebay anymore, since I can always flip them on CL for at least what I paid.
