who cares about the top tube or bottle boss/cable guides... it's a triple triangle fg for 750. i think it's awesome. at least it's not just like all the others out there.

aluminum is nice for when you have a bike you don't want rusting and know you'll never take a hit with.

Ridiculous. It's called marketing, and every bike manufacturer does it.

Unless you go NJS or something, all these $600ish FG bikes are basically toys. The component spec is not for any kind of 'performance' advantage. The designers know they're never going to see the track. What's the problem?

The top tube pierces the seat tube on Pulses and GTB's. I was at Interbike, the reps said that design is cost prohibitive now. Also the guy who designed the Pulse was there. He said that he designed the Gutterball too. I walked away thinking...I am glad I have a Pulse.

Pedantically, the seat tube pierces the top tube.

There were also three different iterations of the design, if I recall.

Bikes: gt gtb & marinoni pista special.

I'm letting go of my 54cm GTB if anyone's interested.
Haven't listed it anywhere else yet.

I've recently bought the GTB 09 and returned the Pista 09 'cuz i think the GT actually felt better on the ride. Yes, I know its aluminum and Taiwanese, but, the Pista just sucks (poorly crafted for 08/09) and the price went from $600 ('08) to $749('09).

As for the parts.... it's an entry level track bike built for the masses. You get what you pay for.
Either way, the GTB is now my back-up bad weather bike...... my $0.02.

Your better choice is the Surly Steamroller!
