1. This should be a seperate thread from interbike.
2. The osobike should come w/ a front caliper brake setup. No backup in the event of chain breakage or chain disengaging from the ring or cog is asking for a lawsuit.
3.Same for faulty assembly instructions, they should be corrected. It's asking for complaints or worse, after a customer f*cks up his bike trying to put it together the wrong way as instucted in the videos ("I call the jury's attention to exhibit #4...)

If that bike doesn't ship with a front brake (incl in the price, not as an option).. I hope to God you're incorporated so you aren't personally liable for your company and the lawsuits that will pile as people slam into the back of things due to not being able to stop fast enough. There is a very good reason you don't see any/many SS coaster brake only road/FG style bikes out there. You can't stop for ****. Your marketing will ensure you sell a minimum of these things to prevent the emergency wards from filling up. I shutter to think what would happen to someone whipping down a hill on that thing in the rain. At least FG riders know they are risking life and limb when they hop on.

Sheldon brown advises against riding a bike on the street without a backup stopping mechanism. that includes a coaster brake without a front brake. how exactly are you going to stop when your chain breaks?

As I have said several times before, this bike is not intended for going down long downgrades where you are braking for long periods of time. It says that right on the order page. Also, anybody who wants to buy a front brake is free to do so by adding $38 to their order. I have been riding bikes with coaster brakes for a long time and have never had one fail on me. I guess, in the super rare event that the chain broke, and I had to brake at that instant, I would use my feet on the ground.
The only accident I recall related to brakes is when I was in college and was going down a steep walk path where I was supposed to be walking my bike. There was a person walking and we both moved to the same side at the same time. I slamed on the front caliper brakes so hard that I flipped over the handle bars.

You're missing the point. Fact is, chains break. Fact is, components fail. The more bikes you sell the higher the chance of a component on one of your bikes failing (since there will be more out there.) And all it takes it the one out of million where a chain breaks or the coaster brake fails, the rider can't stop and gets injured, and you're going to find yourself staring straight in the face of a pretty hefty lawsuit. OR you could take everyones advice and slap a front caliper brake on there and not have to worry about it.

This isn't a BMX we're talking about here, god dammit. You can't reach the ground from the saddle unless you have your bike set up incorrectly, and if you're stopping in a hurry after component failure, you probably don't have time to hop out of the saddle to put your feet down, and even if you did, again, THIS ISN'T A BMX WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. Stopping a road bike from ~20mph, or, much more likely, from 30+mph since the braking system is more likely to fail on a descent, by putting your FEET on the GROUND is S-T-U-P-I-D. And for that matter, it sure as **** is not going to stop you "at that instant."

Not everyone lives in the prairies. Even city folk have to contend with the occasional hill, and a lot of the time they're going to have to moderate their speed while going down said hills because they would otherwise be going a hell of a lot faster than the usually-standing-still cars surrounding them, and filtering through traffic on even a mild to moderate descent at speed knowing there's nothing between you and certain death except for the good will and conscientiousness of said drivers and a ****ing coaster brake would probably have made Evel Knievel **** his pants.

These threads should not have been combined and stickied. It reads like schizophrenia.

One of the threads was a legitimite posting of Interbike pics, the other was a poorly executed shill.

I'm deleting my early comments in this thread on the basis of irrelevance.

I agree that there should be 2 separate threads for Interbike and Oso****tybike. That dude is hopeless. Not only is he completely Ignoring all the free feedback and good advice some people have given him, he is literally begging to be sued back to the stone age. Not only is it ******** not to include a brake as standard, in the instructional video, he mentions, "if you want to put reflectors on.. You know some people just ride during the day and don't want to put them on... But it you want to..." Suggesting that people not install the legally mandatory reflectors is idiotic. Assuming someone will want to set their bike up to ride only on flat streets, only during the day is about the most assinine idea I have ever heard. What a lazy, inconsiderate and short-sighted approach. He should be used as an prime example of how NEVER to advertise, brand, develop, plan, market or sell a product. In fact, I may use this as an example in my Marketing Management class. I think everyone will find it hillarious and educational. Sorry to be so harsh but I feel like there was some really good advice that was flat-out ignored when offered even in a neutral tone.

How in God's name do you NOT UNDERSTAND YET!

If YOU as a MANUFACTURER don't spec a brake as STANDARD EQUIPMENT, you are opening YOU/YOUR COMPANY up to SERIOUS MOTHER^*&(ING LAWSUITS.

Holy !@#$.

I have no experience in this matter, but just last week I was at my local sporting goods store and saw a beach cruiser with a coaster brake ONLY. So tell me why the beach cruiser can be sold but laredoshane is advised that he is playing with fire? It's just a bike and it has a coaster brake. I really don't see what the fuss is.

Because most beach cruisers weigh slightly less than a fully loaded '57 Chevy. Kinda hard to get those beasts up to speed.

So whats the weight to no brake legality ratio? My buddy has this Felt cruiser:

Should he crash it and sue them? Or if the tires over a certain width then does no front brake become a non liability? How wide should the rear tire be before it is? What do you think goldfish? You seem pretty passionate about all this.

There are these hubs i've heard about that have some sort of braking contraption in the hub? Just heard rumors about them though.
