Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Informal Poll re computers

Don't b*tch me out because it's not an actual bike-specific thing, more of a social experiment/question deal. If it bothers you than please just don't respond. I'm just wondering approx ratio of Mac folks vs Windows folks amongst SS & fixie riders. I'd bet Mac preference likely represents a higher percentage among us than among general population...which is something less than 10% in the USA. Chime in if you care or have a preference.

For the record, I have and use both, prefer Mac.

Mac all the way!

I work in the studio of an advertising agency and we are all Mac here...brand spanking new G5s too! Now if I could only convince the office to buy me one for home...

My PC at home is only for internet use. I wish I had a Mac at home so I could do some freelance work.

Yeah, pretty close - they're up in Tewksbury - had a friend who used to work for them, actually a couple of friends. Though, I still have no experience on an Avid (thank you very much Emerson College)... my work is all Final Cut Pro and After Effects (+Illustrator, Photoshop, etc). I used to do trade show videos, now I work for the City of Cambridge with their government channel. I generally did more After effects and motion design, but at this job its more editing than the other. Unfortunately, being a government job, it doesn't pay very well... but its work for now hey. You?

That's right! This could be a private message, but I'm too lazy.

I'm using windows 98se, i have tried linux but it cannot do the things that i want it to do-- games mostly. I give trangsaming 5 bucks a month even though i don't us elinux in the hopes that they will make linux games work. XP is a giant POS bloatware and I don't like it or the spyware that comes with it.

Why microsoft doesn't bother to ask if people just want a solid smaller footprint os i have no idea? Think XP shell pared to the bone. I might even buy that OS.
