are the buttons ornamental? or maybe to give something to grip while tightening?

They do actually help me tighten them, since they stop my hands from sliding off the ends.

They also help to keep the ends from de-laminating. you can also cut your straps and throw those on to secure the more fragile ends. they are quite handy

Also they go "clickety-clack" when you're walking your bike!

Yeah, lately I've been thinking about how difficult it would be to put out a similar product at a much lower price. Really, it's just two layers of suede sandwiching a layer of nylon and some good buckles. They charge a premium because demand has skyrocketed but NOBODY else is making a product like this, except MKS, and you save, what, like $5 there?

I mean, how hard can it be to press two big slabs of suede and a layer of nylon together, cut it to shape and jam some buckles in there?

not in focus, but you get the idea. nothing simple - i "downgraded" from errebi sprint doubles, and i ended up liking the singles much more.

Time ATACs. But they're in the Fed Ex system somewhere. Right now I just have the platforms off my mtb. Eventually I'll have ATACs on both bikes.
