Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: Too Many

Fixed gears and single speed were my gateway into more serious cycling. So I say bring all the porn of all kinds.

Ha! This Skyway "pit bike" brings back BMX memories of my youth. Those are pornographic first-generation Redline hollow chromoly flight cranks, cool!

Was there a structural purpose behind this design?

Bikes: yes

back in the day, because of the way that British Cycling was organized (very hush hush, no mass start races, only ITTs), framebuilders weren't allowed to label their bikes and so had to add distinguishing characteristics - see, for example, Hetchins' curvy tubes. maybe that is why that bike is so wack.

i have a teammate whose bike looks like that. he's a little over six feet tall, all leg. oh, and he's been riding for decades and knows what he's doing.

so, the point is, while it's always awesome to get in the first snarky know-it-all comment, if you don't add the appropriate amount of vagueness/"unless"-factor in your post, then somebody else could show you up in a subsequent post.
