building a singlespeed
hi! i just bought a pake 53cm track frame to try and build my first singlespeed bike! right now i lug around a 29lb 15-speed monster, which is fun, but i'm very excited to have something a little lighter!
anyway i want to make it good but not awesome cause thats not really necessary right now, but i'm also wicked new at this so i was wondering a couple things.
just fyi, i dunno if this helps, i use my bike for city commuting, 10-20 miles a day.
should i just go with the standard pake threadless 1" fork or is there a better, similarly priced option that will maybe weigh less?
also, i don't really understand the difference between headsets... i'm gonna put bullhorns on it and i like my bars to just slightly higher than average, i dunno if that matters.
in terms of wheelsets, i don't need anything amazing, just something decent or pretty good. i'd also like a flipflop wheel... either with 2 different single speed settings or singlespeed/fixed. i think i read somewhere about 2singlespeeds and fixed?? maybe i just made that up??
finally, bottom brackets and cranksets**********?? NO idea.
anyway im stoked to learn!! thanks!!!!

nothing personal to you, but this forum is just becoming a cluster f*ck of people asking how they should build their bike. the answers to the questions you are asking are readily available everywhere on the internet; google is your friend. you can even use the search function on this forum..

It's going to take some patience. Asking good questions is the key. Instead of just saying "Hey, I'm building a bike! I suck!" Ask one specific question at a time and spend some time reviewing old threads. Don't get me wrong, we are pumped that you are building a bike, and look forward to a day when you dont suck, but we are all building bikes too, and often our information spills over onto the forums in a searchable manner.
