Good call on the WRX colors. I would guess the wheels are eBay Velocitys.

Is the maple leaf logo just to taunt all the Canadians who BD won't ship to?

For the wheel of the dawes do I just need to buy a fixed cog to be able to run it fixed or do I need to purchase some other things?

You also need a lockring. And a lockring spanner would help.

Here's mine. Only upgrades are longer seatpost from performance, and clipless pedals.

It's my 20 mile RT commuter, hence the funny lights.

You're running a front brake with non-machined front wheel? Does that mess up your rim? I'm new, but I was under the impression that you couldn't run a brake on a non-machined rim. It is working for you?

to tell you the truth, i stopped using my front brake a while ago. i only kept it on for "emergency" uses, until yesterday. my younger brother took my bike for a spin around the block, and yanked the brake right in front of me scuffing up the wheels, so i took it off. yeah i know, it's "dangerous" but i hardly reach speeds in excess of 20+ and i usually ride in pretty flat areas

I just picked one of these up last week and love it so far. A great bike for the price. I will post pictures once I wrap my NJS drops and throw them on.

I do have a question however. I have a black SST that I bought used, and the sprocket is also black and not silver like the ones in this thread. Just the sprocket is black, not the crank arms. Is this sprocket aftermarket, or did some black SST's come with a black sprocket?

do you know what a sprocket is?

I'm assuming you mean a chainring. if so, no it's aftermarket which isn't a bad thing

I do mean chainring. So no black SST's came with a black chainring? The shape/style looks exactly the same, just in black.

I thought this was an old Dawes Lightning, but I am not sure - could it be an SST? BB is a little low for me, but I have been pretty aggressive and no pedal strike yet. I love this bike.

Just look up the SE lager or Fuji Track. It's the same frame as those two.

hey dirt boy,
so i'm still new to the fg/ss world and trying to learn everything I can. What is a tugnut exactly? I saw someone else's comment about your picture. Also, I know that when you flip your wheel around that its important to get the right tension, do you have any suggestions or comment about how to flip your wheel around and get the tension right?

Any help would be great.

Also, I just got my new dawes SST a lil less than a month ago and done a few lil improvements. Just waiting on my new wheels and chain to come in. Cant wait to post it. I really like the look that yours has. Im a big fan of the white walls and the white chain you've got.

Its from Surly and helps keep tension on the chain.
